It takes the brightest minds to be a technology leader. It takes imagination to create green energy for the generations to come. At Siemens Gamesa we make real what matters, join our global team.
Siemens Gamesa is part of Siemens Energy, a global leader in energy technology with a rich legacy of innovation spanning over 150 years. Together, we are committed to making sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy a reality by pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
As a leading player in the wind industry and manufacturer of wind turbines, we are passionate about driving the energy transition and providing innovative solutions that meet the growing energy demand of the global community. At Siemens Gamesa, we are constantly seeking talented individuals to join our team and support our focus on energy transformation.
Find out how you can make a difference at Siemens Gamesa:
How to contribute to our vision:
1. Development of Wind Turbine and/or Wind Farms Regulator electrical simulation models in Electromagnetic Transient models with specific features (snapshot, encryption, multi-run).
2. Integrate DLLs or automatically generated code.
3. Test model performance and analysis results. Provide inputs to other departments.
4. Assess model performance against WTG capabilities.
5. Modelling issues analysis.
6. Documentation of activities: design report, validation reports, user manuals.
7. Develop automation tools so that they can run simulations and create reports automatically.
Technical Knowledge:
1. Power System engineering: Transmission and distribution networks.
2. Grid elements: (power transformers, power cables, reactive power compensation devices, protection and distribution of MV grids...)
3. Power electronics.
4. Electrical machines.
5. Harmonics analysis.
6. Power System studies:
1. Transient stability (mainly LVRT and OVRT).
2. Electromagnetic transients simulation (EMT).
3. Dynamic studies (response to grid events or changes in power plant set points).
4. Simulation and modeling of control and electrical systems.
5. Small Signal Stability analysis of power systems.
SW skills:
1. PSCAD: Very important to have knowledge about the Fortran compilers, compatibility issues, and encryption techniques.
2. Creation and integration of compiled code (DLLs) into simulation tools allowing advanced features: multirun, multi-instance and snapshot features.
3. Fortran and C programming.
4. MATLAB and Simulink.
5. RSCAD (software package) – Real Time Digital Simulator.
What you need to make a difference:
1. Simulation & Modeling: Wind turbines, desirable experience with type-3 and type-4 technologies for transient stability studies.
2. Ideally 3 or more years of experience developing PSCAD models.
3. Grid Connection background: Familiarized with grid code requirements.
4. B.Sc or M.Sc or PhD in electrical or power systems engineering.
5. Wind power plants; or at least renewable energy power plants in which multiple components need to be controlled at the same time to match the references or needs at the point of common coupling.
6. Renewable systems: mainly wind turbines, but also PV and BESS.
7. Algorithms to control power plants, mainly wind turbines, power converters and/or renewable energy power plants. Experience with hybrid power plants will be a plus.
Other skills:
1. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical topics clearly and concisely.
2. Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiative in finding innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
3. It is important that you are a dedicated team player, and you thrive in a multi-cultural environment – just as you possess fluency in spoken and written English.
In return for your commitment, we offer you…
* Become a part of our mission for sustainability: Clean energy for generations to come.
* A global team of diverse colleagues who share passion for renewable energy.
* Trust and empowerment to make your own ideas a reality.
* Personal and professional development to grow internally within our organization.
* Siemens Gamesa offers a wide variety of benefits such as flexible working hours as well as home-office possibility for many colleagues, attractive remuneration package, and local benefits such as subsidized lunch, employee discounts and much more.
Empowering our people:
How do you imagine the future? Our global team is on the front line of tackling the climate crisis, reducing carbon emissions – the greatest challenge we face.
