We need a head chef from 1 July 2023 to help us out (either for one month or for the rest of the season, until end September). We run a small rural hotel & restaurant in Asturias and guests enjoy the fact that we offer cosmopolitan food with a focus on fresh fruit and vegetables.
Tasks
1. Cooking and plating of a meal consisting of appetizer and fresh bread, soup, salad, main course (with a vegetarian option) and dessert for 6-18 dinner guests.
2. Assisting with meal planning and grocery lists.
3. Assist in cleaning up and setting up for the next morning's breakfast.
Requirements
We need someone with a chef qualification and/or experience in cooking high-quality food. This person should also be comfortable creating vegetarian/vegan meals. Our food is presented beautifully, and the ideal candidate should be creative and know how to plate food in a beautiful way.
Benefits
This is a contract position, so the benefits are per contract to Asturian guidelines. We also offer onsite accommodation in a basic volunteer house (note that the accommodation may be shared with other workers).
The position is for someone who enjoys cooking with fresh produce, appreciates working with good food, and enjoys being creative. It is a small hotel, with limited staff, so making dinner an enjoyable affair for our guests usually is a team effort. We like a calm and relaxed environment, but it is still a very fast pace, and the ideal candidate would be someone who can work systematically, fast, and efficiently.
