Hunter Douglas is seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Financial Controller to join our Finance team. We’re building a strong Control Organisation within Zone EMEA, with a combined emphasis on technical accounting, financial control and regulatory compliance. This role will work closely with Zone and Divisional leaders, providing financial insight to support decision-making and ultimately contribute to long-term success of our company.
In this role, you will be responsible for the financial reporting oversight of business units, with a scope that spans across our entities in Spain & Portugal. You will support the units in ensuring overall compliance with accounting and reporting policies. For the units, you are the go-to person when it comes to financial control. You will leverage your knowledge of the business and its main processes when reviewing and understanding the unit’s financial records.
In addition to financial reporting oversight, you will be a key partner in ensuring the successful roll-out and ongoing management of various initiatives such as GBS and SOX. You will help bridge the gap between the project implementation teams and the local units.
In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Zone Control team, with a link to various leaders at zonal divisional and local level. There will be a significant amount of interaction with local and divisional partners and you will be a critical resource to multiple Division Managers.
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with an initial emphasis on being onsite more frequently to enhance team collaboration and effectively build relationships with stakeholders. As you become more integrated into the business, the expectation will shift to being onsite at least a few days per month. The Financial Controller should have the ability to travel a few times a month and visit our locations across the Iberian Peninsula.
Key responsibilities:
The Financial Controller will have a broad set of responsibilities split over several key areas:
Compliance
Monitor overall compliance with Group Accounting Policy Manual
Support units in interpretation / application of accounting and reporting policies
Review monthly financial data and identify any areas where we are not aligned with group reporting policies
Partnership
Provide support to Central Control team on various topics
Work in conjunction with various Zone and Global teams to ensure adequate financial oversight on all EMEA units
Finance routines
Lead in-depth monthly BS, P&L and cash flow analysis for all units in your direct scope
Coordinate pre- and post-close financial accounting and reporting routines
Periodic / ad-hoc review and approval of manual journals
Regulatory compliance
Ensure statutory and tax compliance
Coordinate statutory and tax audits in your jurisdiction
Identify tax risks and proactively limit tax exposure
GBS / Shared services
Manage / monitor service requests to GBS
Accountability partner for BU to GBS
Evaluate GBS routines on a monthly basis on behalf of BU
People
Mentor and guide financial professionals at unit level, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
Provide coaching, training and development to enhance team’s skills and expertise
Other
Support Central Control team in group reporting and external audit
Provide M&A Accounting and Onboarding / Integration support
Sign-off on key transactions, in accordance with Zone Authority Limit
