Job Purpose
The Global Category Manager within the Global Procurement function of Straumann group manages a portfolio of selected CAPEX projects. The Global Category Manager is responsible to put in place, lead and drive global virtual teams to ensure the successful definition and execution of selected equipment category strategies and CAPEX procurement projects. In his/her role, the Global Category Manager is accountable for the global CAPEX procurement performance.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Manage a portfolio of selected CAPEX procurement projects globally for the Straumann group by leading cross-functional and cross-regional virtual teams with full accountability for CAPEX procurement performance (portfolio of CAPEX procurement projects representing +75 Mio CHF/year).
2. Develop Procurement category strategies for selected equipments, that are aligned with the overall business strategy of the Straumann group: ensure the execution of sourcing projects that are integrated, cross-functionally executed and aligned with Straumann business stakeholders.
3. Analyze supplier markets and provide recommendations that translate into actionable strategies and forward-looking analysis. Develop expertise, maintain market intelligence and stay abreast of the changing supply base and new technologies.
4. Lead and drive CAPEX Procurement projects and achieve targets:
* Lead efforts that drive cost optimization, improve quality, service and enhanced innovation through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship and risk management.
* Identify saving opportunities and manage a global pipeline of sourcing projects and initiatives, including both the ones fully executed by him/herself and the ones executed by others (strategic sourcing specialist or/and local procurement teams).
* Define and execute strategic sourcing initiatives: lead supplier selection and negotiation through the RFP process, in collaboration with the different Straumann business units and corporate functions.
* Manage supplier performance. Define and execute a yearly communication plan with critical / strategic suppliers.
1. Ensure that all countries execute the equipment category strategy as required and agreed by the global category team (track and monitor category performance).
Profile
1. Preferred education: Master, MBA academic degree in Business, Economics, or Engineering.
2. Professional certification: CPSM or CIPS desired.
3. Language: English (excellent written and spoken), Other: fluency in at least one additional language is advantageous (e.g. German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese).
Experience
1. Minimum 5 years in strategic procurement role (category management, strategic sourcing) with exposure to supply chain management (regionally or globally), complex strategic sourcing in a global matrix environment, optimal procurement processes and standards.
2. Demonstrated performance in working within cross-functional teams, with requisite drive and energy to be successful in delivering a challenging transformation agenda.
3. Specific category experience includes at least one of these: mechanical, electronic or additive manufacturing equipment, CAPEX projects.
