JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for providing general and specialized direct and indirect patient care through the application of evidence-based nursing procedures and practices to patients of all ages in assigned nursing units. This position is also responsible for demonstrating competency in the behavioral, growth, development, and psychosocial needs of patients being treated.PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCompletes timely patient admission and ongoing assessments, plans, and updates plan of care based on individual patient needsProvides direct care and evaluates outcomes, incorporating principles of family-centered careMonitors and documents patients’ condition and effectiveness of care and interventionsAssesses the educational needs of patients and significant others considering cultural needs and other special concernsProvides teaching and educational material to the patient and/or significant as appropriateValidates and documents patient and family understanding of teachingAdministers prescribed medications by approved policies and protocols, utilizing barcode scanningCarries out prescribed treatments by approved policies, protocols, and educational material proceduresUse the knowledge of one’s role and the roles of other professions to appropriately assess and address the healthcare needs of the patients and populations servedDemonstrates commitment to providing evidence-based practice care by:adhering to protocols for the care of patient populations in which assigned,reporting needed changes in practice supported by evidence,and participating in evaluating patient outcomes utilizing evidenceDelegates appropriate components of the nursing care plan to other members of the nursing teamMaintains confidentiality regarding patient and family information by promoting professional interdisciplinary communicationRespects Patient Rights and demonstrate behaviors of a Patient’ First PhilosophyIncorporates the CCAD Professional Practice model and patient safety principles into clinical practiceReports errors and near-missesResponsible for completing charge capture education and in-service training for their Institute within CCAD. When charges are not captured automatically the nurse will complete within Epic in real time, Perioperative Services within 24 business hoursQUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification is requiredA minimum three (3) year curriculum in Nursing from an accredited program is requiredMinimum of two (2) years post-graduate experience in a General Surgery /operating room setting is requiredValid and current national license is requiredBLS is required from AHA or an equivalent organization or must be obtained within 3 months of employmentACLS, PALS relevant to the area of specialty is required, from AHA or an equivalent organization; or must be obtained within 6 months of employmentStrong oral and written communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office suiteStrong interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively manage multipleFluency in written and spoken EnglishExperience with electronic medical records is strongly preferred
