Position : Automation Engineer
Primary Objective of Position
An Automation Application Specialist is primarily responsible for providing installation and service support for the most challenging repairs and troubleshooting. In addition, this role provides advanced technical training to Core Diagnostics internal roles and to end users.
The position will focus on automation.
Major Accountabilities
1. Ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with quality system requirements.
2. Own automation projects implementation across EMEAP together with HW and IT team members.
3. Prepare and drive customer meetings in order to help with the definition of the workflow and related specific configurations.
4. Configure the automation system as per defined workflow and customer needs.
5. Perform validation and qualification of the automation system.
6. Provide onsite support during the go-live phase.
7. Monitor instrument performance and provide suggestions for configuration changes in order to reduce T.A.T., improve throughput, and balance the workload on the modules.
8. Perform advanced troubleshooting regarding sample-related issues, including specimen routing, sample errors, exception management, and results production.
9. Perform application-related technical coaching and training for Application Specialists, Technical Service Specialists, Abbott Ambassadors, and TSO.
10. Participate in the Area Expert team for automation.
11. Analyze existing solutions to provide improvements and suggestions.
12. Keep up-to-date the installation documentation and tickets and update the project plan.
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's / Engineering degree in medical / electrical / mechanical or medical technology is preferred.
Background
1. Preferably 5 years of experience as a Technical Service Specialist or a proven track record in a similar position, supported by management and customer references.
2. Successful engagement with customers, specifically key stakeholders and lab staff.
3. Good product and industry knowledge.
4. Strong experience and process skills in business functions service delivery.
5. Ability to identify and drive resolution of issues.
6. Technical expert for product line accountability.
7. Coaching and training skills.
8. Strong experience in the use of analytical tools and software.
Impact of Position
Deliver customer operator training and coaching in Abbott training facilities and onsite, providing on-site automation implementation, application support, and application troubleshooting.
