Vulnerability Management Engineer

What a Vulnerability Management Engineer does at HP:
1. Prioritize vulnerabilities based on severity, risk level, exposure, and potential impact on the organization’s operations and reputation and facilitate hand off to relevant remediation teams.
2. Provide vulnerability and / or misconfiguration remediation guidance risk-awareness for common vulnerabilities.
3. Contribute to the improvement and enhancement of vulnerability reporting.
4. Escalate significant vulnerabilities that are past due to leadership.
5. Assess and provide guidance on potential false positives.
Individuals who thrive in this role at HP typically have:
1. 6+ years of relevant experience in Cybersecurity Vulnerability Management and OS Hardening practices for Windows, Linux, and network equipment.
2. In-depth understanding of common operating systems such as Windows and Linux, as well as one or more common enterprise technology solutions such as Active Directory, VMWare, common web and web application servers, databases, etc.
3. Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure Cloud assets is a significant plus.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort presenting information to technical and non-technical audiences.
5. A mindset of continuous growth, curiosity, and asking WHY?
Nice to Haves:
1. Technical Cyber Security Certification through one of the recognized bodies preferred: SANS, ISACA, (ICS)2, etc.

Our Vulnerability Management Engineers are part of the System Hardening & Operations team in HP’s Enterprise Security Operations organization, enabling optimal communication and collaboration with closely related functions.
