OW, a controlled 50/50 joint venture between EDP and Engie is looking for a proactive and eager to learn Geotechnical Intern.

*NOTE: For this role, it is essential to be able to sign an internship agreement for at least 6 months.*
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Take fundamental part in the ground engineering cycle for offshore foundation design, from conceptual phases to detail and installation stage.
· Produce Scope of Works for geotechnical site characterisation.
· Identify ground engineering risks such as potential risk of pile refusal, pile-run or macro geological hazards in collaboration with other team members.
· Geotechnical characterisation, including conceptualising Ground Models, defining geotechnical design profiles and soil parameter derivation.
· Soil structure interaction i.e. lateral pile response, axial capacity, bearing capacity, soil cyclic degradation.
· Driveability calculations of slender foundations using WEAP analysis.
· Geotechnical risk quantitative evaluation such as liquefaction potential or strain-softening behaviour.
· Geotechnical calculations using commercial and in-house developed software packages.
· Produce Scope of Works for Ground Engineering and Foundation design.
· Manage contracts and follow-up external consultants works.
· QA/QC consultants to deliver optimised designs to projects.
· Provide input to external consultants.
· Coordinate with the structural team to provide soil input and interpretation of results.
· Keep up-to-date corporate data, including maintaining databases, internal tools and project related information.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Student in MSc Civil Engineer with specialty in structures and foundations. Focus on Geotechnical Engineering will be a plus.
LANGUAGES
Proficiency in English, other languages are a plus.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
None required.
SKILLS
· Team player who is willing and able to work with others to solve problems and share knowledge.
· Special interest in geotechnical engineering.
· Willing to work from an automation perspective, optimising processes.
· Knowledge of programming languages (MATLAB, Python) are a must.
· Culturally aware, with a high level of emotional intelligence to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
· Proven ability to manage ambiguity and shape processes and systems.
· Proactive approach to optimizations and improvements.
