At Nextlane, you’ll have the opportunity to innovate, push boundaries, and work on solutions that are transforming the automotive world.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of our next-generation cloud-native automotive platform. You will define the overarching technology strategy, ensure architectural best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams (both internal and external) to build and deploy microservices- and event-driven solutions at global scale. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in modern software architecture patterns, distributed systems, and DevOps practices—coupled with the ability to navigate complex business requirements in a rapidly evolving automotive industry.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Define and document architecture guidelines, reference architectures, and best practices for microservices and event-driven components.
2. Drive the adoption of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles to ensure clear service boundaries and maintainable codebases.
3. Evaluate and select modern technologies (e.g., container orchestration, serverless, streaming platforms) that align with Nextlane’s strategic goals.
4. Establish coding standards, design patterns, and processes to ensure software quality, maintainability, and performance.
5. Collaborate with global technical leads to ensure consistent Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) usage (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager).
6. Enforce security-by-design and DevSecOps practices, integrating automated security scans and compliance checks into the CI/CD pipeline.
7. Work closely with Product Management to align technical roadmaps with business priorities, including connected car solutions, dealer management systems, and analytics.
8. Serve as a technical mentor to engineering teams, reviewing designs and providing feedback to reinforce architectural integrity.
9. Engage with stakeholders across different regions, understanding local regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR) and ensuring architectural compliance.
10. Champion observability best practices (metrics, logs, tracing) to achieve comprehensive system visibility and quick incident resolution.
11. Design scalable, fault-tolerant systems that operate effectively across multiple regions.
12. Conduct regular architecture reviews and performance audits, guiding teams on optimizations for throughput, latency, and cost-efficiency.
13. Stay abreast of evolving cloud-native technologies and industry trends.
14. Spearhead proof-of-concept projects to assess emerging tools and methodologies for potential adoption within Nextlane.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience: 4-5 years of experience as a Solutions Architect.
2. Languages: English C1 (Interview will be conducted in English).
3. Technical Skills:
4. .NET Development: Extensive experience in designing, developing, and deploying .NET-based applications, with expertise in ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, LINQ, and Web API. Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, dependency injection, and unit testing frameworks such as xUnit and NUnit.
5. PHP Development: Proven expertise in building scalable and maintainable applications using PHP, including frameworks like Laravel, Symfony, and Zend. Strong command of object-oriented programming (OOP), RESTful API development, and integrating third-party services. Experience with PHP-based CMSs (WordPress, Drupal) and optimizing performance for high-traffic applications.
6. Distributed Systems & Microservices: Proven track record of designing and implementing service-oriented solutions at scale, with in-depth knowledge of RESTful APIs, gRPC, or GraphQL.
7. Domain-Driven Design (DDD) & Strategic Patterns: Advanced knowledge of bounded contexts, aggregate design, anti-corruption layers, clean architecture, SOLID patterns, etc.
8. Event-Driven Architecture (EDA): Experience working with event streaming platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, RabbitMQ), plus a solid grasp of event sourcing and CQRS.
9. Cloud-Native Tooling: Hands-on with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), and IaC frameworks (Terraform, CloudFormation).
10. Security & Compliance: Familiarity with IAM, secrets management, regulatory requirements (GDPR), and DevSecOps best practices.
11. Observability: Demonstrable experience with logging, metrics, and tracing frameworks (ELK / EFK, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
1. AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
2. Automotive Industry Experience: Familiarity with vehicle telematics, connected car platforms, or automotive retail solutions (e.g., Dealer Management Systems).
3. Data & Analytics: Exposure to data lake/warehouse solutions, real-time analytics, or ML pipeline architectures.
4. TOGAF or Other Enterprise Architecture Framework: Certification or hands-on experience applying enterprise-wide architecture standards.
5. Work proficiency in any other European language is considered a plus (French, Spanish, German, Swedish).
Interpersonal Skills:
1. Stakeholder Management: Ability to translate complex technical topics into business value for non-technical stakeholders.
2. Leadership & Mentorship: Experience guiding distributed engineering teams, promoting knowledge sharing, and fostering a collaborative environment.
