With more than 270 shops in Italy, Spain, and Portugal, AW LAB is a laboratory of “urban sport style” trends that offers its customers the coolest products of the moment, suggesting and inspiring them in creating their own style. Since opening its first store in 1997, AW LAB is part of the Bata group, a world leader in the footwear industry, with over 5,000 stores in more than 100 countries. AW LAB proposes a wide collection of sneakers from the most famous international sport brands and a range of exclusive designs created in collaboration with them.
The proposal is completed by a collection of apparel and accessories from leading sportswear brands and two private clothing labels. In Spain, AW LAB is experiencing a period of great development of its network of direct shops and franchises.
DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE
The main objective of the AREA MANAGER is to manage the sales network of the direct and franchising stores efficiently and profitably. This involves managing their own area of expertise, aiming at the development of sales and personnel, coordinating all operations carried out by the company, and providing necessary support for problem resolution through constant presence in the territory.
KEY CHALLENGES
Personnel Coordination:
1. Cares for the training of store managers and sales staff through field assistance in visual, sales, stock management, administrative management, etc.
2. Supports store managers in the organization and motivation of staff, prioritizing newly appointed store managers.
3. Participates in the selection of staff and evaluates trial periods of staff in charge.
4. Ensures the presence of store managers in training in line with the policy of expansion and follows the training program in collaboration with the human resource department.
5. Ensures proper evaluation of store managers in training and the sending of related documents to the HR department.
6. Supports store managers in training and proposes replacement programs.
7. Responsible for staff composition in stores in compliance with corporate budget.
8. Highlights salespersons in stores with high potential for professional growth.
9. Periodically organizes meetings with store managers.
10. Responsible for management issues related to staff (travel, holidays, permits, timing).
Stores/Sales:
1. Schedules regular visits to shops, at least every month, drawing out a report of commercial visits.
2. Under the Operational Management Plan, proposes strategies and action plans for shops in the area.
3. Ensures that store managers and sales staff provide good customer service.
4. Analyses market trends and customer behavior, evaluating changes and responsible for strategic action plans to improve sales.
Merchandising:
1. Reports requests for products and abnormal stock situations in shops.
2. Analyses and evaluates key business documents and trends.
Administration:
1. Checks and ensures the smooth completion of administrative operations through periodic visits.
2. Ensures compliance with legal obligations regarding personnel.
3. Ensures adequate training on safety standards is provided and updated.
4. Monitors travel expenses incurred by staff.
Commercial Area:
1. Checks the setting of goods inside the shop based on marketing inputs.
2. Checks the installation of windows and walls following Visual Merchandising instructions.
Territory:
1. Assesses potential locations for new openings.
2. Proposes the replacement/renewal of existing stores with growth potential.
3. Coordinates and manages organizational aspects of new store openings.
Various Activities:
1. Sends working program schedules to the Sales Manager.
2. Joins weekly audio conferences and periodic meetings.
3. Organizes meetings in the head office to resolve store-related issues.
