JOB DESCRIPTION
Client: Our client is an international group operating in the consumer goods sector, a leader in food products manufacturing and distribution with brands such as Campofrío, Aoste, Navidul, and Oscar Mayer. It belongs to a dynamic, creative, and sophisticated corporate group driven by professional and business ethics and values.
The group is currently seeking to recruit a Regional Legal Counsel responsible for the group’s business in France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg, based in either Madrid or Lyon.
Position: The candidate will be a corporate counsel providing legal advice to the group business at an international level in France and BENELUX across a wide range of legal areas (excluding labour).
The candidate will be part of the global legal department based in Madrid, responsible for the mentioned region and collaborating with other corporate counsels on transnational projects. He/she will report directly to the group’s global General Counsel in Madrid and will travel occasionally to relevant countries.
Responsibilities:
* Advising on legal aspects of manufacturing and supply contracts, managing legal risks of commercial contracts related to sale and distribution.
* Involvement in publicity and marketing aspects, including campaigns, sponsorships, co-branding, labelling, and packaging.
* Drafting and negotiating IT-related contracts and R&D agreements.
* Working on IP law applicable to the group, focusing on brand protection.
* Providing regulatory advice concerning the food industry and assessing activities under competition law.
* Participating in international legal projects.
* Advising on Real Estate and Environmental issues, supporting the implementation of EU environmental legislation.
* Managing litigation related to business units and coordinating external counsels.
* Maintaining contact with business managers, legal managers, and representatives of sector associations.
* Contributing to strategy design in the countries of responsibility, managing large projects, and minimising risks.
* Coordinating local external counsels.
The counsel will act as a business partner, regularly interacting with various business areas and staff members, including top international managers.
Profile: The candidate must be a qualified lawyer in France with approximately 8-10 years of experience, preferably from a top national or international law firm. Experience as in-house counsel at an international company is desirable, and familiarity with Environmental law connected to EU ESG regulatory packages will be valued.
The candidate should be a versatile lawyer with a track record in technical legal advice and business acumen, pragmatic, detail-oriented, proactive, rigorous, and possess excellent communication skills. He/she will work with autonomy while being integrated into the corporate legal team.
The group seeks a professional who can work efficiently under pressure in a dynamic environment. The candidate must be native or bilingual in French and have an excellent command of English, with an LLM or similar degree in business law highly valued.
