We are a dynamic and innovative technology company specializing in the development of advanced transceivers for future optical wireless communications. Founded by a team of professors and former PhD students with over 20 years of experience in the design and characterization of integrated photonics devices, our team is passionate about pushing the boundaries of optical wireless communication through the full photonic integration of the optical wireless transceiver.
What you’ll do:
1. As a lab engineer, you will oversee every aspect of AGPhotonics laboratory, including optical characterization set-up as well as RF and electronics equipment characterization.
2. Set up characterization equipment, including lasers, detectors, interferometers, and spectrometers, and maintain such equipment to ensure accurate and reproducible measurements.
3. Improve the characterization process by automation, which will require writing scripts to orchestrate the different lab equipment, automating and optimizing measurements.
4. Characterize photonics integrated circuits using cutting-edge lab equipment.
5. Collect data from experiments using data acquisition systems, analyze experimental results, and interpret data to determine the performance and characteristics of photonic devices.
6. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including photonics engineers, electronic engineers, software developers, and system engineers, providing support and advice from the experimental perspective.
7. Prepare technical documentation, including test plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user manuals.
What you’ll bring:
1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field; PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with post-graduate specialization in characterization lab is a plus.
2. Relevant and demonstrable experience in an electronic/RF/photonic laboratory environment with hands-on experience with lab equipment including lasers, power meters, spectrum analyzers, arbitrary waveform generators, oscilloscopes, and main test equipment communication protocols.
3. Hands-on experience with instrumentation control programming languages and protocols such as VISA, GPIB, RS232, USB, Ethernet.
4. Knowledge of calibration of measuring instruments and a good understanding of measurement accuracy, precision, and uncertainty.
5. Experience with general engineering software such as Matlab, Labview, and Python for lab equipment automation and data analysis.
6. Hands-on experience in handling and characterizing photonic components is a plus.
7. Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and 3D printing is a plus.
8. Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller programming is a plus.
9. Knowledge in circuit design, simulation, soldering, and PCB fabrication techniques is a plus.
10. Exhibit passion, energy, and a high level of motivation to contribute to R&D projects and initiatives.
11. Showcase strong teamwork, organizational skills, autonomy, and project management capabilities.
What we offer:
1. A great team with first-class colleagues and experienced academic advisors.
2. Work on a product-oriented deep-tech start-up in an early stage, enabling a professional career with huge potential for motivated and talented young people.
3. Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
4. Relocation package if applicable.
5. Intensive summer days and every Friday of the year.
