The successful candidate will join our experienced and dynamic department, who consistently deliver an outstanding learning experience for all students.
Our aim is to enable every child to achieve more than they dreamed possible, in a happy and inclusive environment where everyone is supported and encouraged to excel.
The English & Media department consists of a team of highly experienced teachers delivering First Language English as a core subject in Key Stages 3 and 4. Prospective candidates will have the opportunity to deliver lessons within Key Stage 3, First Language and the English A Level course.
We are looking for an innovative and creative teacher capable of teaching First Language English effectively across all key stages, and one who can take an active role in maintaining the high standards and aspirations of our pupils. The ideal candidate will have taught First Language English and the UK National Curriculum before.
Students in Key Stage 3 follow most elements of the British National Curriculum, studying heritage texts, modern novels, poetry and non-fiction texts with a focus on vocabulary, comprehension and writing skills.
At Key Stage 4 students study CIE iGCSE First Language English and the most able also follow the Edexcel GCSE Literature course. Therefore, the ideal candidate would be a native speaker of English.
At Key Stage 5, we currently offer the Edexcel Language/Literature combined course.
We are seeking someone with excellent subject knowledge and the successful candidate must be student-focused, possess a relevant subject degree, a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification and relevant First Language teaching experience in a similar environment.
