Senior/ Principal Sustainable Transport Infrastructure

In this role, you will provide sustainability consulting and verification services for transport infrastructure projects, supporting international developers in reducing carbon emissions across the asset lifecycle—from design and construction to operation and maintenance. You’ll advise organizations on assessing the sustainability of infrastructure projects globally, helping create more efficient, sustainable, and resilient transport systems. Ideal candidates will have experience in areas such as engineering and design, infrastructure development, sustainability consulting, public sector agencies, or transport industry associations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and contribute to transport infrastructure decarbonisation projects involving sustainable and resilient infrastructure design, construction, operations, with focus on road transport but covering also types of infrastructure (e.g., airports, ports, railways).
2. Lead and contribute to the development of technical proposals primarily focused on infrastructure decarbonisation but with the possibility to contribute to wider transport-related projects.
3. Lead and contribute to business development activities leveraging your knowledge of the infrastructure industry and stakeholders, including infrastructure investors, developers, operators, international institutions and industry associations.
4. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sector technology developments, trends, challenges and regulations.
Key Competencies and Experience
1. Educated to a Bachelor’s degree level or higher in civil engineering, environmental engineering or related fields.
2. Strong background in sustainable infrastructure design, construction, and operations, especially within road transport decarbonisation (although experience in additional types of infrastructure is positively valued).
3. Knowledge of low-carbon technologies and practices for infrastructure projects, including energy efficiency, sustainable materials, and resilient design.
4. Familiarity with appropriate data sources, constraints and national and international policies on infrastructure decarbonisation and climate action.
5. Understanding of the infrastructure industry, including key stakeholders, regulations, trends, and international standards.
6. Good communicator, written and verbally including the ability to convey technical subjects clearly and concisely to a range of clients.
7. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team of specialists ranging from engineers, economists, policy experts to climate change experts.
8. Excellent time management with the ability to juggle time across multiple projects and prioritise deadlines seamlessly.
9. Fluency in English and excellent reporting writing skills.
Desirable Competencies and Experience
1. Strong industry network and ability to utilise existing sector contacts to support new opportunities and build trust-based relationships with clients and potential partners.
2. Strong modelling and analytical skills and familiarity with appropriate standards, guidance and relevant methodologies for infrastructure sustainability assessment over project life cycle.
3. Experience leading and managing transport infrastructure projects.
4. Experience in leading technical proposals related to infrastructure decarbonisation.
5. Experience in assessing project feasibility, risks, and financial impacts related to infrastructure decarbonisation.
6. Experience in integrating climate resilience into infrastructure planning and operations.
7. Fluency in additional languages.
