You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, environmental experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for environmental, safety, and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to support AWS environmental compliance in Spain. The environmental engineer will ensure standards and policies support regulatory compliance and provide appropriate environmental guidance to regional operations teams. The individual will support environmental performance analysis, reporting, monitor metrics, and guide the operations teams in the implementation of Amazon environmental procedures.
Key job responsibilities
1. Assess and support compliance with local and national environmental regulations, contractual obligations, and Amazon policy.
2. Play a key role in regional environmental programs by integrating with engineering, construction, and operation teams.
3. Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards.
4. Develop, analyze, and present environmental metrics, horizon scan for risk, and effectively communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
5. Submit time-critical environmental reports to various governmental agencies.
6. Complete thorough environmental investigations and associated regulatory reporting including working with operations/necessary stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering/science, geology, geography, biology, chemistry or related field of study with 4+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, environmental consultant, environmental manager, program specialist, or program manager.
Experience in environmental compliance, environmental auditing, environmental permitting/reporting, waste management, environmental management systems, and ISO14001 standards.
Broad knowledge of Irish environmental regulations and licensing requirements as well as project management skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with senior leaders inside and outside the company.
Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization.
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in implementing practical improvements.
Self-starter who consistently identifies improvement opportunities and applies new knowledge to enhance environmental performance.
