Financial Controller - Fully Remote (Spain/Portugal)

FUNCTIONS
This position is responsible for the day-to-day finance functions including bank operations, while also taking certain (basic) responsibilities for legal, human resource, and insurance-related matters. It will also liaise closely with the Compliance Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial and operational monthly reporting, including the responsibility for month-end consolidated income statement, balance sheet, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis.
2. Cash operations.
3. In cooperation with the financial planning manager (to be hired): monthly and quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting, and planning processes; monthly cash flow forecast for the next 12 months.
4. Ensuring compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
5. Evaluate financial performance against budgets/forecasts.
6. Responsibility for annual audit.
7. Any office-related matters (no office in Spain), for the time being only in Australia and Dubai.
8. Develop and implement cross-functional control processes and procedures across the organisation.
9. Review of any contract entered into by the company in coordination with legal counsel.
10. Review of all HR-related matters for both employees and consulting staff in all countries (currently 14).
11. Responsibility for insurance.
12. Constant review and evaluation of risk and compliance together with the compliance manager and DPO.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
1. 7-8 years finance experience, preferably in the software industry or related field.
2. Experience in fast growth start-up/scale-up companies is a plus.
3. Native or bilingual English level; other languages will be a plus.
4. Experience with financial systems and other software commonly used in the industry + outstanding Excel and reporting skills.
5. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
6. Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to the company's overall business strategy.
7. Integrity and ethical behaviour in handling financial matters.
8. Strong problem-solving skills, critical and “commercial” thinking.
9. Proactive and results-oriented mindset.
10. Ability to work well under high pressure and meet deadlines.
11. Adaptability to change and learn new skills.
