Environment | Sets Supervisor
As the Environment/Sets Supervisor, you will oversee the Environment Department, ensuring the artistic vision of the production is realised through the creation of compelling and visually stunning environments and sets. You will collaborate closely with the Director, Art Director, CG Supervisor, Production and other department leads to create immersive worlds that enhance the storytelling of our full CG family animated feature film.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Supervision:
o Lead the Environment Department, managing a team of artists in the creation of all set and environment assets.
o Provide technical and artistic guidance to the team, ensuring all assets meet the highest quality standards and adhere to the artistic vision.
o Schedule, plan, and oversee the department’s workflow, ensuring timely delivery of assets within the project’s timeline and budget.
2. Artistic Execution:
o Collaborate with the Director, Art Director & CG Supervisor to develop the environmental style and visual language of the film.
o Supervise and participate in the design, modeling, texturing, and shading of environmental assets.
o Ensure environments are optimized for rendering and fit seamlessly with characters and other assets.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with other departments, including Character Design, Layout, and FX, to ensure a cohesive visual experience.
o Attend production meetings, providing updates, insights, and solutions related to environment art.
o Facilitate effective communication within the department and across the production team.
4. Quality Control and Improvement:
o Establish quality control review processes, ensuring all environment assets meet required standards before they move into final production stages.
o Encourage innovation and ensure the use of the latest software and techniques to keep the studio at the forefront of industry standards.
o Provide feedback and mentorship to team members, fostering professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in environment creation for animation or VFX, with at least one completed feature film or equivalent experience in television or game environments.
* Strong artistic skills with a deep understanding of environmental design, including architecture, nature, and atmospheric effects.
* Proficiency in relevant software such as Maya, Blender, Substance Painter/Designer, ZBrush, and Houdini.
* Excellent leadership abilities, capable of motivating and leading a team with clear direction and support.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
