Sr Manager Government Affairs - Spain will report directly to the Head of Government Affairs & Market Development, EMEA, and will oversee the company's Spain government affairs, market development, and public policy functions.
This position will be involved in commercial business development, informative program development, and regulatory strategies across Baxter's Kidney Care business in Spain.
Responsibilities:
* Advise and counsel executives on public policy and governmental matters, including pending legislation/regulations and policy initiatives, and their potential implications for the company.
* Develop the company's government relations and public policy strategy and agenda in Spain to help prioritize actions and resources.
* Participate in trade organizations, non-governmental organizations, and strategic industry groups that the Kidney Care segment is a member of to influence legislation, regulations, and public policy that affect the industry and advance the company's interests.
* Develop relationships with key government officials in the central government, Members of Parliament, the Spanish National Health System, their staff, and administrative agency personnel on issues of importance to the company.
* Assist in government business transactions with Ministries of Health, Finance, and other relevant government agencies.
* Develop thought leadership and influence commercial strategies.
* Develop education programs and symposia with universities, government agencies, and key opinion leaders in the region to improve adoption of best clinical practices.
* Lead and balance external and internal resources.
Background/Requirements of Successful Candidate:
We are seeking candidates with 8-15 years of experience in governmental or non-governmental organization, trade association, or private sector roles, including:
* Knowledge and ability to appropriately influence the political/policy process, including working with and managing consultants.
* Experience in public policy making processes.
* Experience in developing partnerships with trade associations and other industry partners to push an agenda.
* Formulating and implementing business development, government relations, and external affairs policies.
* Proven ability to analyze key regulatory and policy issues with respect to the company's strategic goals and to focus on those issues that advance (or could potentially inhibit) the company's competitive business interests.
* Proven ability to partner effectively with internal business stakeholders.
* Record of achievement and accomplishment.
* Must be organized and a self-starter, comfortable working within a team located across the region.
