We are looking for a Head of Innovation, EU Projects & Public Funding to join our team and lead our research and development strategy, manage European projects, and secure public grants to fuel THEKER’s growth. Your Role
As the Head of Innovation, EU Projects & Public Funding at THEKER, you will be responsible for crafting and executing our innovation strategy, identifying and leading EU-funded R&D projects, and coordinating grant applications from regional, national, and international sources. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—tech, finance, and operations—to align cutting-edge technology with strategic objectives, ensuring maximum impact and sustained growth.
Main Responsibilities
Innovation Strategy & R&D
• Develop THEKER’s long-term innovation roadmap, identifying emerging trends and translating them into actionable research initiatives.
EU Project Management
• Identify suitable European funding programs (e.g., Horizon Europe, EIC) aligned with THEKER’s tech goals.
• Oversee the entire project lifecycle—proposal writing, consortia building, budgeting, execution, reporting—ensuring milestones and deliverables meet EU guidelines.
Public Funding & Grant Acquisition
• Scout and evaluate grant opportunities at local, national, and global levels, preparing high-quality applications that resonate with funding bodies.
• Coordinate all administrative and financial reporting requirements for approved grants, ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulations.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with universities, research centers, and industry partners to reinforce THEKER’s innovation ecosystem.
• Represent THEKER at conferences, networking events, and consortium meetings, nurturing relationships for future collaborative endeavors.
Budget & Resource Management
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to structure budgets for R&D projects, ensuring transparency, cost-efficiency, and alignment with THEKER’s strategic plan.
• Monitor resource allocation, mitigating risks and adjusting strategies to maximize return on investment.
Reporting & Compliance
• Prepare regular project updates, dashboards, and financial reports for the leadership team and funding authorities.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory frameworks related to grants, intellectual property, and ethics in R&D.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience managing EU-funded R&D projects and a successful track record in securing public grants.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide cross-functional teams and manage complex, multi-stakeholder partnerships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, startup environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strategic mindset with excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to reside in Barcelona or relocate to this city or its surroundings.
Desirable Skills (Not Mandatory)
• Familiarity with robotics, AI, or broader tech-driven industries.
• Experience working with agile methodologies in R&D settings.
• Knowledge of intellectual property management and technology transfer processes.
• Additional language skills are a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in project management and collaboration tools.
