The Role
The technical services department is a talented team of engineers that work on impactful projects essential to Cameco’s success. As a member of the technical services department, you will report to the Sr. Engineer, Mechanical, providing mechanical engineering and technical solutions for mining, milling and process controls problems. Projects would involve heavy process industrial systems in Northern Saskatchewan mines and mills and Ontario refinery and conversion facilities.
In this role, you will:
* Perform various mechanical engineering and design tasks
* Perform analysis of process systems involving piping, pumping, pressure vessels, tanks and HVAC
* Perform preliminary equipment sizing for pumps, vessels, tanks, and HVAC
* Work with mechanical designers for CAD work in support of development of 3D models and 2D drawings
* Develop technical specifications, datasheets and reports
* Support the development of utility PFDs, P&ID’s and drawings for cost estimation, construction, and turnover
* Support the construction and commissioning processes through RFI’s and field presence as required
* Be responsible for applying corporate policies, procedures, technical and safety standards, and regulations (Federal provincial, corporate and SHEQ) in your day-to-day work
Required:
* You are entering your third or fourth year as a university student specializing in mechanical engineering
* Solid understanding of MS Office software, including proficiency in Excel
* Occasional travel to Cameco production facilities
Recommended:
* Knowledge of equipment, piping and pump sizing and selection
* Knowledge of hydraulics and HVAC system design
* Strong communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills
* Interest in lean principles and value engineering
