Offer Description The Integrated Stress Responses and Liver Cancer Immunotherapy Lab at the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA), University of Navarra (Spain), is recruiting a senior postdoctoral researcher to contribute to a high-impact research project focused on the interplay between cellular stress pathways and immune responses in liver cancer.
The position is part of a broader translational oncology program at the Cancer Center Clinica Universidad de Navarra (CCUN) and national innovation frameworks.
The successful candidate will integrate into a multidisciplinary team committed to understanding and overcoming mechanisms of immune resistance in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Project Summary This project explores how tumor-intrinsic stress signals, particularly through transcriptional regulators, impact immune evasion in liver cancer.
Utilizing clinically relevant animal models, high-throughput molecular technologies, and functional genomics, the candidate will lead efforts to identify and validate new therapeutic targets.
A strong translational component is embedded in the project: we are actively collaborating with leading biotechnology partners to co-develop first-in-class inhibitors, aiming to advance them into preclinical validation.
Key Responsibilities Design and supervise experiments using cell culture and mouse models of liver cancer and downstream methodologies such as molecular and cellular assays (e.g., qPCR, Western blot, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence) and high-throughput techniques (RNA-seq, CRISPR/Cas9 functional screening, etc.
)Analyze data and interpret findings in the context of cancer immunobiologyCoordinate with internal and external collaborators, including clinical partnersMentor junior researchers and contribute to lab managementCandidate Profile Required qualifications: PhD in Molecular Biology, Oncology, Immunology, or a closely related disciplineAt least one postdoctoral experience with strong research output (high impacted publications, patents)Demonstrated expertise in cancer biology, particularly tumor immunology or transcriptional regulationProficient in experimental design and in vivo modelsStrong communication, organizational, and mentoring skillsFluency in English (spoken and written)Desirable qualifications: Experience in liver cancer or related solid tumorsFamiliarity with bioinformatics analysis of omics datasetsPrevious involvement in translational research or biotech collaborationsBenefits Full-time contract under the University of Navarra employment frameworkAccess to cutting-edge research infrastructure and core facilitiesOpportunities for international mobility and collaborationCompetitive salary and social benefits in accordance with Spanish and EU regulationsAbout the Institution CIMA is a leading biomedical research center in Spain, integrated within the University of Navarra and closely connected to the Clinica Universidad de Navarra (CCUN), a top-tier cancer center.
The Argemí Lab operates at the frontier of cancer immunology and translational research, offering a vibrant scientific environment with strong ties to clinical and industrial partners.
