The Warehouse / Logistics Assistant coordinates and executes the assigned warehouse and/or logistics activities and processes, ensuring operational management of logistical providers and/or internal employees (e.g. warehouse staff, drivers) in line with specifications, orders, and safety policies. This role is crucial for safe, efficient, and effective material and equipment storage and flows, optimally supporting the OpCo’s production, warehousing, and distribution processes in realizing their objectives.
The Warehouse / Logistics Assistant is a support/execution role in the area of Logistics/Supply Chain, focusing on administrative support and execution of the warehousing function, logistics, (outbound) transport, or a combination of both areas. Depending on the size and structure of the logistics/warehousing function, the Warehouse / Logistics Assistant will report to the Warehouse & Logistics Manager, Warehouse Manager, or Transport/Logistics Manager. In larger operations, the role may focus on specific areas like stock control or transport planning, while in smaller operations, a more versatile role may be required, including tasks like driving a forklift if necessary.
Job Description:
Inventory management & stock control:
o (Re-)Orders materials and/or equipment as needed, registers these in relevant databases/systems, provides input on supplier performance, and inspects, manages, and maintains materials, tools, and/or equipment in stock to ensure optimal availability for production and delivery, while identifying bottlenecks/inadequacies in logistics processes.
Inbound goods and storing:
o Coordinates the intake of incoming materials and/or equipment, checks and registers for quantity, damages, and completeness, organizes unloading and storage, ensures unloading/labelling of materials, and stores items in the defined location/warehouse at the right position. Checks completeness and visual quality conformance of delivered materials and/or equipment to ensure readiness for efficient distribution to internal customers.
Order handling:
o Receives and processes orders from internal and external customers, selects, checks, packs, and/or distributes the required materials and/or equipment to the required location, either in cooperation with warehouse staff or directly, ensuring efficient, timely, and correct delivery of materials and/or equipment.
Outbound goods and transport planning scheduling:
o Ensures that goods and materials are transport-ready, including dispatch/delivery papers and accompanying documents for drivers, and coordinates transportation.
o Supports and/or provides input into routing and scheduling of vehicles based on customer records and requests to fully meet customer expectations and optimize scheduling and routing of vehicles.
o Arranges transportation for delivery/transport of goods/materials to internal and external customers.
Systems and Administration:
o Executes the administrative intake and distribution of materials and/or equipment in relevant systems, registers hours and other logistics administration to provide reports to stakeholders, ensuring up-to-date administration and insight into availability and throughput of materials and/or equipment for stock keeping and internal accounting.
Ensures that order handling, quotations, administration, supporting IT systems, and maintenance of master data align with Nutreco's standards to achieve high-quality logistics processes.
Customer satisfaction:
o Manages customer relationships, ensuring all customer requests are handled appropriately to maintain confidence and receive positive feedback.
Continuous improvement:
o Monitors, measures, benchmarks, and evaluates internal and external logistics processes, tools, and systems, initiating and implementing changes and improvements for continuous optimization and alignment of logistics processes.
Compliance:
· Ensures compliance with all operating, safety, quality, risk, and health regulations.
Other duties:
o May perform a wide range of other warehouse/logistics support and administrative tasks and special project duties as assigned.
