Oak House School has a school population of 1100+ students. The successful candidate should be able to cater for English as an additional language as many of our students speak English as a second or third language. Main tasks and responsibilities
* To make the school libraries a place where reading, learning and knowledge are a joyful experience
* To allocate the annual budget to make best purchasing decisions across the school
Secondary / IB / Bach Responsibilities :
* Information Literacy Instruction - teach students how to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively and efficiently, including artificial intelligence. Additionally, collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum and support classroom instruction.
* Library Management - organise and maintain the library's collection, including cataloging, labeling, covering, shelving, and organising the physical space.
* Create / maintain a collaborative, inviting, 21st century learning environment as budget allows
* Literacy Promotion - encourage a love of reading through book talks, book clubs, and other literacy activities.
* Co-sponsor of weekly writing club
* Co-sponsor of book club
* Technology Integration - assist students and staff with the use of technology and digital tools for research and learning.
* Student Support - provide 1 : 1 guidance / support to students in their research and reading activities.
* Library Programs and Events - plan and manage events such as author visits, book fairs, maker space / craft activities.
* Collection Development - research, select, and acquire books, digital resources, and other materials that support OHS curriculum and student interests.
* Professional Development - stay current with trends in librarianship and education through ongoing professional development.
* Communication - Provide communication to the Oak House community regarding the library and its services
* Reporting - provide monthly reports to the Heads of Studies, Headteacher and Governors on library / resource usage.
Digital Support :
* Review / update Digital Library and various student websites on a termly basis.
EYFS & Primary Support :
* Host and plan weekly library clubs for Y6 and Y7 students
* Partner with Y7 English teachers to provide library lessons for Y7 students.
* Allow Y7 students to check out age-appropriate books.
* Provide book recommendations for EYFS - Primary.
* Manage and update the whole school digital library.
Qualifications and experience
Education and Experience - Minimum Requirements :
* Relevant bachelor’s degree or teaching degree, Librarian certification and classroom teacher certification required;
* Recent librarian experience in a comparable school;
* Knowledge and experience of IB programmes an advantage;
* Excellent communication skills in English;
* Library specific IT competence and experience required;
* Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing or walking in order to carry out the role as librarian.

* To give clear instructions to children and be organised in classroom management.
* To be flexible, friendly, and cooperative when working with colleagues.

Contract and benefits
* Full time, permanent contract, with a four-month trial period
* Social Security paid, ensuring state medical cover
* Lunches provided free of charge
* Moving expenses of 1,000 euros gross, paid at the end of the first payroll (overseas candidates)
* Travel expenses up to a maximum of 250 euros - receipts required (overseas candidates)
* Assistance given (if required), with finding accommodation, registering with a doctor, official paperwork, opening a bank account
* 1st September 2025.

Oak House School is a private, co-educational school, situated in Sarrià, in the north of Barcelona. It was founded in 1968 and is a Non-Profit Foundation.
