This is a long-term temporary position to cover an extended leave, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance and organizational needs.
The Executive Director of Undergraduate Studies in Law is responsible for the day-to-day management of five Programs (Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor in Philosophy, Politics, Law & Economics and dual degree programs) in both our Madrid and Segovia campuses.
The Executive Director will assist the leadership team in the execution of the School’s strategy across the undergraduate program portfolio. The Executive Director will represent the School externally when necessary and will interact with faculty, students, different departments of IE and external agencies as decision-maker on operational matters. The Executive Director will report to the Vice Dean of Programs and will manage the Undergraduate Programs team. The post will be located in Madrid.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a positive and world-class experience for students and Faculty.
Responsibilities:
Your role as Executive Director will involve:
Student and Faculty Management:
1. Take ultimate responsibility for the overall undergraduate program delivery: monitor students, their academic performance, and any other issues that may affect their academic life.
2. Review and develop new procedures, academic guides and other materials to achieve a more efficient working dynamic.
3. Ensure timely and smooth communication and relationships with students, faculty and other internal stakeholders regarding undergraduate programs.
4. Attend to students who need support.
5. Evaluate and improve overall student and faculty experience.
Internal, External and Operational Coordination:
1. Ensure the appropriate implementation of academic policies.
2. Prepare the budget of the undergraduate programs together with the Vice Dean of Programs. Responsibly comply with the budget and support in its appropriate implementation.
3. Work closely with the Vice Deans to promote curriculum innovation.
4. Attend all Directors’ Coordination Meetings and liaise with other programs’ Executive Directors and program staff.
5. Represent the School in meetings with external public agencies (ACSUCYL, ANECA) and coordinate with Ordenación Académica on the elaboration of official and periodical reports.
6. Supervise and take necessary measures to guarantee the validity of the program according to the Bologna Agreement that regulates the European Zone of superior education.
7. Coordinate operational issues related to undergraduate programs with other internal departments as required (admissions, marketing, communications, international development, finance planning & control, administration, careers, alumni relations, corporate and institutional relations, international mobility, facilities, IT, human resources, campus life…)
8. Collaborate with the Admissions Department by participating in informative sessions, openings, interviewing candidates, and collaborating with the Admissions Committee; and participate in the elaboration of the Marketing elements for the program, including brochures, webs and different materials.
Team Management:
1. Lead in the selection and recruitment of the undergraduate program management team: Associate Director/s, Program Manager/s, Assistant/s.
2. Ensure the proper running of program operations by supervising the work of the program´s management team.
3. Provide leadership to the team, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment to ensure their well-being, engagement, and professional growth.
4. Drive team performance by setting clear goals, offering guidance, and addressing challenges proactively.
5. Promote a collaborative culture while ensuring individual accountability and continuous improvement.
Development:
1. Monitor the educational market and help develop and launch new undergraduate programs at IE Law School.
2. Lead strategic and special projects as agreed with the School leadership team.
3. Foster genuine partnerships with external stakeholders as well as promote, coordinate and support corporate initiatives within the ecosystem of global and public affairs, which may include capstone projects, seminars, international competitions, simulations, speaker-series, international exchanges, dual degrees, study treks, student clubs and other extra-curricular activities.
4. Support the broader knowledge ecosystem of centers and initiatives at IE Law School.
Qualifications:
1. Academic background in Law.
2. Minimum 6-8 years professional experience.
3. Master of Laws (LL.M.) or MBA from a top-ranked university.
4. Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and oral).
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative spirit.
6. Strong project-management capabilities.
7. Robust experience in supervisory and management roles.
8. Strong customer-management skills.
9. Outstanding communication skills.
10. Solid capability to work under pressure and high level of accountability.
