The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center. The Data Center Facility Manager will assist in maintaining a high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum. This role supports mission-critical servers and strives to maintain 100% uptime.
Key job responsibilities
This role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment including:
1. Electrical support equipment such as stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems including but not limited to switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries.
2. Mechanical equipment including CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers, pumps, and motors.
3. Additional support equipment including fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.
Key job responsibilities include:
1. Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure ensuring high quality work without impact to internal/external customers.
2. Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians to support and operate data center facilities.
3. Engage in improvement projects, driving them from conception to completion.
4. Coordinate daily with third-party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
5. Effectively manage the operations budget and expenditures.
6. Operate as the afterhours on-call Data Center Facility Manager for the data centers in the region, responding to issues and managing their resolution.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. 8+ years of experience in facilities and/or construction management, demonstrating progressive responsibility and growth within the facilities/construction industry.
2. Ability to conduct financial business case analysis and translate information into useful formats.
3. Experience building and managing budgets.
4. Familiarity with business process documentation and improvement.
5. Ability to lead negotiations and manage high-level meetings and discussions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant technical degree with experience in a critical environment.
2. Understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment.
3. Experience in management of vendors/contractors in large-scale critical environments.
4. High attention to detail and effective customer communications.
5. Strong organizational and team management skills.
