Position Description: The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world-class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. This position is responsible for prototype turbocharger builds. Technicians are required to review prints and assembly documentation followed by the assembly of the turbocharger. This position requires close work with the lead technician and the engineering staff as most of the builds in the model shop are small lot prototype turbochargers.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Measure and build all architectures of Turbos
2. Ability to modify components to create custom operating conditions
3. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
4. Ability to set wastegates on pneumatic and electronic actuators applications
5. Ability to perform end-of-line learn on electronic actuators for VTG turbos
6. Ability to build shaft motion Turbos for testing
7. Perform manual machining as required for build
8. Ability to single plane high speed balance on NVH 4 including setup, calibration, and correction to engineering specifications
9. Ability to low-speed core balance assemblies, including setup, calibration, and correction to engineering specifications
10. Ability to use SAP to pull prints and specifications
11. Ability to work independently and adjust priorities per demand
12. Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies
13. Communicate and enforce safe work procedures
14. Identify and close safety issues (suggestions, inspection, and investigation findings) and their corrective actions
15. Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies
16. Communicate with Engineers
17. Interpret work orders correctly and follow special directions as required
18. Ensure accurate receipt of finished parts according to the Work Order
19. Verify the fit compatibility of parts by visual and metrical inspection and verify that parts meet print specifications
20. Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient assembly area, understand, and maintain the 6S principle
21. Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
22. Deburr & wash components as required
23. Knowledge of turbocharger components and general assembly
24. Attendance on the job is essential
25. Accurately measure parts within ”; using bore gauges, micrometers, etc.
26. Set up of gauges to measure within
27. Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications:
1. General manual machining and fabrication experience
2. Ability to read and interpret Engineering Work Orders
3. Practical computer knowledge including Microsoft Windows applications, Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel
4. Ability to complete tasks efficiently while dealing with interruptions
5. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
6. Ability to read, interpret and follow Engineering specifications
