Corteva Agriscience is currently recruiting one Research Associate within the Research Center at Seville, SP. The Research Associate is an integral member of a team committed to coordinating field trial activities.
This RA will be part of the multi-crop team to provide support to the different breeding programs in sunflower and corn, executing agronomic practices ensuring high-quality data.
Main responsibilities are:
1. Field Operations (80%):
o Manage day-to-day field operations in nurseries and trial network including soil preparation, location selection, loc creation and mapping, planting, field agronomic management, and harvest.
o Ensure adequate management of pesticides as required for agronomic management and selections for herbicide tolerance in nurseries in compliance with safety standards in Corteva.
o Organize and supervise the work of seasonal employees for field management.
o Support seed preparation activities in coordination with the seed handling group.
o Support product characterization and data collection according to established protocols as required in the annual experiment plan.
2. Organization, Coordination and Communication (20%):
o Communication with the site leadership team about workload, capital needs, and challenges.
o Improve efficiency and safety of daily workplace operations, with special attention to field equipment management.
o Effective collaboration and communication with other teams.
o Interact with the REST Team to ensure adequate maintenance, operations, and software updates of field equipment.
o Interact with the EHS&S team in Seville to implement safety standards in field operations ensuring seasonal employees are trained and equipped with appropriate PPEs.
Requirements:
* MS University degree, University degree, or highly technical experience in Agronomy or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of industry-related experience, or equivalent amounts of relevant education and experience.
* Experience with conducting research trials preferred.
* The candidate must have the ability to train/supervise temporary employees and have the ability to work as a strong team member as well as work independently when needed.
* Ability to operate farm equipment is required. This includes, but is not limited to, planting equipment, herbicide applicators, and plot harvest equipment. Additional certifications may be required in the future.
* Certificate in pesticide application will be a plus.
* Travel to testing locations with frequent overnight stays will be necessary. During planting and harvest periods, some weekends may be available to work.
* Continuous training will be required to obtain new skills needed for utilization of new technologies and to stay current with changes in the industry.
