About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
Overview of role
The Energy Unit, specifically the Transmission & Distribution division is recruiting an HVDC Principal Engineer to join our HVDC team in the UK. You’ll work with the existing HVDC team on all matters and projects relating to HVDC projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Actual workload will vary based on business needs but mainly it will cover the stages of a typical HVDC project:
* Feasibility Studies
* Optioneering Studies
* Specification preparation
* Technical Bid Review
* Design Assurance
* Design Review
* Site and FAT visits
* OEM Support Services
* Site pre-commissioning and commissioning oversight supervision
* Due Diligence
* Technical expert services
* Some original design may also be involved.
Candidate Specification:
* Extensively experienced in HVDC, ideally with an OEM, Consultancy or Owner background.
* Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of HVDC Principles and System Studies.
* Showcase an understanding of HVDC Technology and Market Trends.
* Possess a deeper understanding of HVDC Station and Plant Layout Engineering and Design.
