Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.
Key Leadership Expectations Of The Site Director Include:
* Culture: Promote a positive and thriving culture enabling all personnel to work as one team. Hold staff meetings, listening sessions, and other cultural conversations to drive operational excellence.
* Talent Management: Responsible for talent management of his/her direct report including connect, reward, and career development. Manage performance and developmental feedback in close collaboration with regional and subregional functional leads. This collaboration ensures that functional learning and career progression are well-managed, supporting a positive employee experience and contributing to the overall success of the project and the individual.
* Safety: Provide visible leadership at site and ensure health, safety, and wellbeing of Microsoft personnel. Hold GC accountable to embody strong safety and security culture at site.
* Quality: Promote quality standards at site with design, material, and field execution. Ensure all work is executed as per our quality standards and non-conformance are remediated as per quality OKR.
* Schedule: Oversee and manage the execution of work as per the approved project schedule OKR. Oversee progress management and schedule predictability weekly and escalate issues to regional leadership when additional support needed or when SLAs are at risk.
* Cost: Work closely with all functional teams to fully understand status of project progress and scope development. Ensure the suppliers are progressing as per their commitment and solicit support for issues that put SLAs at risk.
The role of Site Director is primarily a construction site based role. Travel between sites or within region to support execution will be required.

Responsibilities:
* People Management: Managers deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modelling, coaching, and caring.
* Project Management: Oversees the team's deployment of large-scale, campus, and/or regionally-based delivery solutions (e.g., new and/or retrofit data center solutions) while also socializing with regional and global leaders. Sets goals for internal and external project teams under their purview of responsibility, delegates responsibilities measures performance against contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and seeks and delivers feedback to achieve timely results.
* Technical Acumen: Analyzes and recommends innovative delivery options utilizing best practices and trends, supports the development and implementation of all organizational procedures and standards, and ensures they are followed by all team members and vendors.
* Change Management: Influences the development and implementation of organizational policies and processes with Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) partners resulting in cost savings, enhanced customer service, or improved asset management.
* Drive Results: Influences and provides direction and coaching to internal and external partners to facilitate and accomplish complex, critical issues that may significantly impact global construction projects.
* Managing Resources: Reviews and provides feedback to the team regarding resource procurement, allocation, and inventory. Ensures storage space is provided for equipment/materials.
* Project Tracking: Leads the team's accountability for on-schedule delivery of multiple projects by ensuring project progress reports including scope, schedule, and budget are provided.
* Coordination: Leads and drives coordination for meetings and activities with vendors, cost managers, and/or owner/architect/contractors. Initializes and identifies opportunities to discuss and integrate lessons learned.
* Goal Alignment: Engages, advises, and collaborates with other internal teams (e.g., Security (OSSC), Information Technology (MSIT), Legal, Project Engineering, Business Risk Management, etc.) to maintain the corporate vision and create goals for the projects.
* Safety and Regulation: Manages and advocates for safe worksites by adhering to organizational and industry procedures. Reviews prior audit results and relevant legislation in order to recommend and manage safety compliance.
* Risk Mitigation: Establishes, reviews, approves, and communicates risk mitigation goals and develops metrics, dashboards and/or scorecards to drive progress.
* Vendor Management: Directs and oversees the management of vendors, ensuring compliance with contracts and prior audit results.
* Vendor Selection: Manages the preparation of Request for Proposals (RFPs), Project Expenditure Requests (PERs), and other project approval tools and templates.
* Financial Acumen: Oversees the creation and application of best practices for identifying and driving cost-effective solutions for the strategic and tactical delivery of a construction project.
* Budget and Controls: Develops, manages, and reports on the scope, schedule, and budget of the project.
Qualifications:
* Required/Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND significant related experience OR equivalent experience.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND solid related experience OR equivalent experience.
* Solid experience working on data center projects.
* Significant project management experience.
* Noteworthy people management experience.
* Business fluency in German.

* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
