Experience & Qualifications
Fully qualified lawyer authorized to practice law in Spain having a Master of Law degree or higher.
Ten (10) or more years' relevant post qualification experience, ideally in an in-house environment & preferably in a Construction, Oil & Energy, or Renewables & Environment sector.
Native in Spanish.
Fluent in English.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Reporting Line
The role will be part of the Global Legal Department (GLD) and report directly to the Regional Legal Team (Iberia & Italy, Middle East & Anglophone Africa Region).
Job Responsibilities
Oversight & Delivery
1. Delivery of all legal services (directly and using external resource, where approved) for the zone.
2. Oversight and delivery of all legal services in domestic and international bids with a specific focus on commercial contract review, strong collaboration and coordination with the Legal Team in the Country/Region.
3. Provide quality and timely legal advice to the business on a day-to-day basis in areas such as:
1. Leased & property matters
2. Competition law
3. General Commercial transactions
4. M&A
5. Product and quality issues.
4. Operate as a valued & integral member of the GLD and as a key business partner to provide high quality legal services and strategic legal support and advice.
5. Negotiate contracts and deals on behalf of the company.
6. Claims & Litigation oversight & reporting.
Collaboration
1. Support transversal activities with local implementation within the zone.
2. Provide reasonable assistance to other members of the Regions as requested by the Legal Management.
3. Guide managers and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
Key Accountabilities
Work on a wide range of contractual matters to support the local commercial and procurement functions, many of which contain international elements. This will include:
1. Developing the organization's policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs.
2. Draft and negotiate a variety of contracts including nondisclosure agreements, supply agreements, purchase agreements, licensing and other software-related or IP agreements, distribution agreements and other commercial agreements.
3. Review tenders & contracts & support negotiations.
4. Prepare template agreements & T&Cs.
5. Monitor and improve contract compliance with established procedures.
6. Provide redlined recommendations on contracts.
7. Work with other teams, such as finance, tax, treasury, insurance, on contract negotiations and requirements at the local level.
8. Maintain and update contractual records, changes, status reports, and other information.
9. Involved in the management of pre-litigation situations and ensure the management of disputes and litigation.
10. Participate in the training activities provided by the Legal Management.
11. Other local legal support as reasonably required by Legal Management.
Skills
Must have an in-depth understanding of how an in-house legal department operates & a passion for understanding Schneider Electric's businesses & facilitating business results.
Must have the ability to identify & analyze critical business issues & apply legal expertise to deliver solutions and mitigations, helping in finding acceptable trade-offs and reaching win-win scenarios.
Must be confident with interpersonal skills, commercially minded, able to work effectively in teams, able to manage negotiations, performing under pressure.
Must be able to adapt quickly, communicate effectively, manage conflict & solve problems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working with international and multidisciplinary teams.
