About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Operate/Support Lead Visual Basic Consultant to join our team for a critical project based in Barcelona. This position involves supporting and managing a legacy Visual Basic 6 application, while ensuring business continuity and operational efficiency. As a key member of our team, you will take on a leadership role in managing stakeholders, coordinating technical resources, and maintaining effective communication between business users and the IT team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Team Leadership: Manage a small team and ensure efficient execution of support tasks, with a focus on Visual Basic 6 application maintenance and enhancements.
* Stakeholder Management: Regularly interact with business users to understand requirements, provide updates, and manage expectations effectively.
* Technical Expertise: Ensure the ongoing operation of Visual Basic 6 applications, supporting .Net and SQL Server-based integrations, and handling issues related to application functionality.
* Communication & Reporting: Prepare and deliver WSR (Weekly Status Reports) and MSR (Monthly Status Reports) to key stakeholders. Report progress, risks, and any technical issues that need attention.
* ITIL & Process Management: Implement and follow ITIL best practices for incident management, change management, and problem resolution.
* Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Assist in the development and execution of disaster recovery plans, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining business continuity.
* Risk & Escalation Management: Handle any escalations and manage risk assessments related to ongoing issues or future enhancements.
* Application Knowledge Transfer: Quickly understand the application's technical and functional aspects and facilitate the smooth transition from the existing team.
* Coordination with Third-Party Suppliers: Work closely with third-party vendors and software providers to ensure that business needs are met, including troubleshooting software issues and upgrading third-party solutions as needed.
Key Requirements:
* Experience: Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in IT roles, with a focus on Visual Basic 6, .Net, and SQL Server.
* Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Visual Basic 6, .Net framework, and SQL Server databases. Experience with legacy systems and their integration with modern technologies is a plus.
* Languages: Fluent in Spanish and English (both spoken and written) for effective communication with the business and the team.
* Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience in managing teams, coordinating resources, and ensuring smooth project delivery.
* Stakeholder & Risk Management: Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, manage customer expectations, and escalate issues appropriately.
* ITIL & Process Expertise: Strong understanding of ITIL processes, including incident management, change management, and disaster recovery.
* Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and recommend effective solutions.
* Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Barcelona, Spain for the duration of the contract.
