About PLD: Founded in 2011, PLD Space is a high-tech engineering, manufacturing and service-driven company, with deep track record and expertise in space launch technologies. We are a trusted global industry leader disrupting the pathway to space access. We are on a mission to reach new heights by making space more accessible, supporting missions that will make us smarter, safer and wealthier. Our purpose is to propel new futures, to enable progress from space and enrich peoples' lives on Earth, by moving new economies, people and world forward.
Mission: As a Structures Analysis Engineer at PLD Space, your main mission is to optimize and validate the design solution, contributing to weight optimization and guaranteeing rocket's performance. You will also be involved in hardware testing which is a key aspect of the job since it will allow you to validate designs and FEM via test correlations.
Responsibilities:
1. Achieve stress justification for new designs by using hand calculations and FEA methods for composites and metals.
2. Perform test predictions and test correlations in order to improve FEA confidence.
3. Perform complex modelling by creating global finite element model (GFEM) and detailed models (DFEM) for both primary and secondary structures.
4. Perform linear and non-linear structural analyses.
5. Perform linear buckling analyses.
6. Perform random, sine and modal dynamic analyses.
7. Participate in the review process, preparing the necessary reports, memos and formal compliance documents (written in English).
8. Liaise with other functions when required to ensure stress requirements are met.
Necessary Requirements:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical or related engineering.
2. Experience with structural analysis; all methods are valuable (hand calculations, FEA linear, non-linear, buckling, explicit dynamics).
3. Fundamental knowledge of metallic structure behaviour and failure modes like strength and stability.
4. Experience with Finite Element Analysis software.
5. Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, dealing with situations that are constrained by time and managing different tasks at once.
6. Proactive and good team worker.
7. Knowledge in scripting software such as MATLAB, Python or VBA.
8. Fluent in Spanish and English.
Desired Requirements:
1. Proficient in using Finite Element Analysis principles and associated tools.
2. Experience with HyperWorks/HyperMesh and OptiStruct is desirable.
3. Good Knowledge on MatLab and VBA Excel is desirable.
4. In-depth knowledge of engineering principles and design techniques related to composite materials, classical laminate theory and finite element modelling techniques.
5. Knowledge in fatigue analysis.
6. Understanding of spacecraft manufacturing methods and processes.
7. Experience in FEA correlations, structures.
Benefits: Health & Wellness: We want you to be happy and healthy in body and mind.
