Maintenance A Worker - Mechanic
Job Summary
Performs preventative maintenance and repair of equipment used in the maintenance of university athletic fields and landscapes including but not limited to university trucks, utility vehicles, golf carts, rotary and reel-type mowers, snow removal equipment, small hand and power tools such as backpack blowers, string trimmers, chainsaws, etc. This position is considered emergency-essential personnel.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Performs ongoing maintenance repairs on rotary and reel-type mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and other university equipment.
* Performs preventive maintenance on university-related equipment at both manufacturer and university recommended intervals.
* Utilizes an online work order system to keep maintenance records of services performed and maintenance and repairs completed on all equipment.
* Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies for equipment.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Serves as a member of the emergency essential personnel staff in the Facilities Services division and is required to report to work during a university closing to assist in carrying out the services of the university.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
* Knowledge of small engine repair of university equipment and procedures.
* Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of working on university equipment.
* Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
* Interpersonal/human relations skills.
* Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
* Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
* Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required; four (4) years of small engine repair experience strongly preferred. A valid Class E Driver's license and Missouri Motor Vehicle License Check are required.
The hours are Monday - Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm.
