We're seeking an experienced Payments Issuer Partnerships Manager to join our Payments team in Barcelona Hybrid to build trust, establish direct communication channels, and optimize payment performance by improving key metrics such as approval rates, authentication success, and renewal rates with focus on France. The Roles Key Responsibilities and Tasks
As an eDOer you will have clear objectives, great challenges, and a clear overview of how your work contributes to the global company project and its customers. As a Payments Issuer Partnerships Manager in the Payments team you will be in charge of:
Strategic Issuer Relationship Management:
1. Develop and manage strategic partnerships with banks and card issuers across Europe with a focus on France.
2. Ensure a direct line of communication with banks to address transaction performance challenges and explore partnership opportunities.
3. Act as the primary liaison between the company and issuers, fostering collaborative initiatives to enhance payment acceptance and optimize risk controls.
4. Organize and lead regular business reviews with issuers, sharing insights on approval rates, fraud trends, and strategic areas for improvement.
5. Build trust-based relationships with banking partners to influence decision-making that benefits eDO's performance.
Payment Performance & Authorization Optimization:
1. Analyze transaction authorization data to identify trends, approval and authentication rate issues, and opportunities for optimization.
2. Work closely with banks to implement issuer-specific solutions such as exemptions for trusted transactions, routing strategies, and dynamic risk assessments.
3. Collaborate with internal fraud and product teams to align fraud prevention strategies with issuer policies, ensuring minimal friction for legitimate transactions.
4. Collaborate with PSPs, acquirers, and networks (Visa, Mastercard) to improve transaction flows.
5. Identify payment authentication and fraud prevention best practices to reduce false declines and optimize user experience.
Fraud Prevention & Risk Mitigation:
1. Partner with issuers and internal fraud teams to align on early fraud detection mechanisms, reducing false declines while maintaining security.
2. Stay up to date on regulatory changes (e.g., PSD2, Strong Customer Authentication, network mandates) and assess their impact on transaction flows.
3. Drive issuer collaboration on risk-scoring models to balance fraud prevention with seamless customer experiences.
Business Development & Payments as a Growth Driver:
1. Identify and oversee the launch of joint initiatives with banks such as exclusive payment offers, co-branded promotions, and cashback campaigns to drive conversions and customer loyalty.
2. Leverage issuer relationships to explore innovative payment solutions including installment payments, digital wallets, and assess BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) integrations.
3. Support market expansion efforts by securing issuer partnerships in key regions to ensure strong local payment acceptance.
4. Work with marketing and Prime Partnerships teams to integrate payments into promotional strategies, aligning on special offers, travel discounts, and loyalty-driven incentives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
1. Work closely with payment product and tech teams to implement technical improvements that enhance issuer connectivity and approval logic.
2. Partner with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure adherence to payment network rules and industry regulations.
What you need to succeed:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
2. 8 years of experience in payments, banking, fintech, or issuer relationship management, preferably in an ecommerce, subscription, or OTA environment.
3. Strong understanding of card issuing, authorization processes, fraud management, and risk controls.
4. Experience working with issuers, payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), and acquiring banks.
5. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret transaction data and drive data-driven decisions.
6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a track record of managing strategic partnerships.
7. Knowledge of global and local payment trends, card scheme regulations, and alternative payment methods.
8. Strong payment network contacts in FR and ideally in the EU.
9. Fluency in French mandatory and English; additional European languages are a plus.
