Controls Systems Engineer, Packaging Innovation, MSPJob ID: 2718909 | Amazon.Com Services LLCThe Controls Engineer creates advanced motion control systems to enable Amazon's packaging platforms to surprise and delight customers while optimizing for the internal supply chain.The primary role of the Controls Engineer is to design and program the motion control systems that power Amazon's packaging machinery and automation. This includes deep knowledge of HMI, PLC, motion control, and integration of safety/ancillary systems. The Controls Engineer works closely with the Electrical and Mechanical teams to ensure the control systems meet project objectives.Key job responsibilitiesCollaborate with the project team to design the systems architectureDesign the systems architecture including the HMI, PLC, Motion, safety, and ancillary systems at the project/platform level while ensuring the technical, cost, and timeline objectives are achievedEnsure complete and scalable project documentationSupport the safety certification processParticipate in meetings to optimize for customer experience, supply chain, and sustainabilityAbout the teamThe Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team develops automated solutions and sustainable packaging across Amazon's operations, focusing on customer experience and waste reduction. BASIC QUALIFICATIONSExperience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructureExperience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, RustExperience with Linux/UnixExperience with CI/CD pipelines build processesBachelors Degree in Automation, Controls, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experienceProven experience in advanced motion control platforms (HMI, PLC, Motion, Safety) integrated design and programming3+ years experience with motion control software (Rockwell, Rexroth, Beckhoff, B&R, Siemens)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with distributed systems at scaleSafety certification experience (CE, UL, CSA, TUV)Experience with integration of Nordson, Valco, Robatech or other industrial hotmelt application systemsExperience with integration of advanced vision systems (Keyence or similar), labeling and other ancillary device integrationCodesys programming experienceAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
