Senior AI Specialist at Savana
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Specialist in Machine Learning with a strong focus on applying Large Language Models (LLMs) in Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the machine learning lifecycle, and a proven record of delivering impactful ML solutions in production environments.
Major Accountabilities where this role is involved:
* Design, develop, fine-tune, optimize, and deploy state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing models, including LLMs, in clinical and multilingual settings, using foundational model libraries.
* Design and implement optimization techniques for quality assurance, explainability and annotation projects.
* Understand the full Machine Learning lifecycle, from data collection/preparation and model development to model deployment and monitoring.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve business problems using advanced Machine Learning techniques.
* Stay up to date with the latest research and advancements in NLP, LLMs, and Machine Learning technologies, including Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
* Work collaboratively within a multicultural, multilingual team and meet tight project deadlines.
* Support and execute projects within the team’s core responsibility including e.g. model development and fine-tuning for real-world evidence studies.
* Operate according to Security Policies, Procedures and Manuals.
* Report any suspect of incident or improvement proposals.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications required:
* Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
* Proven experience working on Machine Learning projects, with a focus on NLP and LLMs, experience working with clinical data and/or in different languages is a plus.
* Deep understanding of Machine Learning principles, including model design, training, validation, and evaluation, and other Artificial Intelligence techniques (Bayes, clustering, classification, PCA, etc.)
* Fluency in Python is mandatory; proficiency in additional programming languages such as R, Java, or Scala is a strong advantage.
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and deliver projects on time in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
* Spanish fluency is mandatory.
* Knowledge of additional European languages, such as English, French, German, Portuguese, or Italian, is highly advantageous.
* Strong problem-solving skills and analytical mindset.
* Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
* Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
* Initiative and passion for staying ahead in the rapidly evolving field of Machine Learning and NLP.
