About the role
* Our Production Unit team, composed of approximately 90 people, is integrated in the Torrelavega site and focuses on the production of soda ash, bicarbonate, and derivatives in strong collaboration with the other site units.
* As a Production Engineer, you will work on production optimization and project development to support the business needs. You will get the opportunity to contribute to the supply of essential products for society and have a positive impact on our future.
You will be accountable for:
* Ensuring that process engineering activities comply with HSE policies and regulations.
* Following up production performance and proposing initiatives to improve competitiveness.
* Performing projects in the domain of product quality assurance, process improvement and development.
* Assisting the manager in order to realize the production plans, and ensure troubleshooting when necessary.
* Acting as a continuous improvement change agent towards manufacturing excellence.
* Assisting in the development and implementation of capital investment projects and installation modifications.
* Writing documentation about the production process and the facility and imparting training to the production staff.
* Reporting plant performance and analysis of data (OEE, technical report, CO2 emissions report, Excellence projects report, …).
* Improving the analytical practices at the shop floor level.
* Interacting with other Production & Process engineers of other Solvay Soda Ash sites.
About you
* Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering (or comparable).
* 2 years or more of experience in the operation of chemical plants. Knowledge of different unit operations (distillation, crystallization, filtration, drying ...) is an added advantage.
Competencies:
* Fluent verbal and writing skills in Spanish and English are mandatory. Knowledge of French would be a plus.
* Ability to communicate orally and in writing at all levels.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of current tools for process analysis and optimization (office software suites, data analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab …).
* Knowledge in Process Automation (automatic control, DCS…) from a user perspective.

About the pay and benefits
* Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the Spanish base pay reasonably expected for this role is 50 to 60 k€/year, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience.
