The Challenge
We are seeking an experienced GNC / AOCS Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our GNC / AOCS Competence Centre within the Flight Systems Business Unit, you will be responsible for supporting new growth areas in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), including Attitude and Orbit Control Systems (AOCS), and Failure Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR).
* Designing, implementing, and validating AOCS and FDIR algorithms for Earth-observation, interplanetary, and ADR / IOS satellites.
* Designing, implementing, and validating GNC and FDIR algorithms for satellites, launchers, and re-entry vehicles.
* Specifying and supporting the procurement of sensors and actuators for GNC and AOCS systems.
* Model-based design implementation of GNC / AOCS algorithms.
* Designing, implementing, and testing simulators.
* Simulating dynamic systems and creating mathematical models.
* Specifying and validating GNC / AOCS solutions.
* Analyzing and making trade-offs for hardware solutions.
* Interfacing with the overall system team.
* Managing technical tasks and team responsibilities.
What We Need
Educational Background
* A recognized engineering degree (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic) or a related degree (e.g., Physics, Maths).
Desired Education
* Postgraduate studies (MSc or PhD) with a focus on aeronautical / aerospace engineering, providing a solid background in at least two of the following areas:
* Orbital mechanics and atmospheric flight dynamics.
* FDIR design, implementation, and validation.
* Classical and robust control techniques (including fixed-structure H¥ synthesis, µ analysis, LPV control).
* Flight operations.
Professional Experience
At least 3 years of experience in the practical application of domains relevant to the position (relevant MSc & PhD studies considered). Desired: 5 or more years of experience.
Technical Requirements
* Strong background in control and simulation of dynamic systems.
* Practical experience in aeronautical / aerospace GNC / AOCS and FDIR solutions (experience in ESA / European programs is welcome).
* Ability to understand and apply new concepts to engineering problems.
* Experience with Matlab and Simulink.
Additional Valued Skills
* Experience in flight operations within ESA / European programs.
* Experience in atmospheric flight.
* Solid theoretical background in GNC / AOCS.
* Background in multivariable robust control.
* Experience with Python and C.
Language Skills
* Good level of English, both spoken and written.
