As an Environment Modeling Lead Artist, you will manage a team of modeling artists to create the visual look of the movie within the assigned deadlines and act as the link between the Supervisor and the team.
Responsibilities
* Takes and receives direction from the Supervisor and provides feedback for the team and reviews artist’s work.
* Is an expert on all things related to modeling, sculpting, and optimizing assets.
* Works with the Director, Production Designer, and Supervisor to elevate the quality of the work to the next level.
* Models trees, bushes, and other vegetation with the look of the movie.
* Iterates with the production designer to find the location design.
* Leads the team providing them with support, guidance, and instruction in areas that contribute towards their artistic and professional growth, ensuring all assets follow the quality standards and artistic direction while achieving deadlines.
* Follows the Supervisor’s guidance.
* Keeps up on current technology trends and tools (hardware and software) that best suit the production (and the company) in the development of a stronger creative technical environment.
* Shows a proactive approach to learning new skills and tools.
* Solves technical problems with the TD Supervisor, defining the best way to do it.
* Provides modeling support to the Lighting, Shading, Rigging, Scene comp, and FX teams throughout production.
* Acts as the link between inputs and outputs departments such as scene comp, Layout, shading, and lighting.
Requirements
* 6+ years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries.
* At least 1 year of experience as Lead in the animation industry.
* Must be able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure.
* A good eye for proportions, color, composition, and detail.
* Strong modeling knowledge.
* Organic modeling knowledge.
* High English level.
* Spanish oral and written is desirable.
