Signalling Systems Engineer
CERTIFER is an international railway inspection, testing and certification
company founded in 1997, expert in the mobility sector.

Specialized in the mobility & railway industry, we provide our testing,
inspection, and certification services to vehicle and component
manufacturers, rail operators, infrastructure managers.
The CERTIFER group acts as a Designated Body (DeBo) in different
countries, as a Notified Body (NoBo) at European level and is also
recognized as an Independent Safety Assessment Body.
In order to reinforce its Signalling department in Brussels, CERTIFER is looking for an experienced Signalling
Engineer to carry out Signalling systems assessments.
Role and responsibilities
Role:
As Signalling Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in assessing signalling projects, applying your
technical expertise for both onboard and trackside subsystems. You will also participate actively to tests
campaigns, and audits activities, acting as independent witnesser and technical expert.
Key activities and responsibilities:
✓ Performs the assessment activities for a range of signalling projects according to the assessment plan
and the applicable standards.
✓ Performs documentation review, tests witnessing and writing of technical reports.
✓ Provides your specific technical expertise to evaluate evidence provided by clients.
✓ Interacts with our customers and with the national or European Railway authorities.
✓ Reports functionally to the Project managers and hierarchically to the Head of the Signalling
department.
✓ Applies the procedures as defined in the quality management system of the company and is
acquainted with procedures, forms and instructions transmitted to the Company and the CERTIFER
GROUP.
✓ Monitors legislations and keep informed about standards evolutions at national and European levels.
We are looking for an experienced Engineer
✓ With a profound understanding and practical experience in the railway or guided transport (metro,
tramway) sector:
o with a Master university degree (or equivalent) and with 3 years of proven professional relevant
experience in the Railway Control Command and Signalling domain,
or:
o with a Bachelor university degree (or equivalent) and with 5 years of proven professional relevant
experience in the Railway Control Command and Signalling domain.
✓ A proven experience as assessor in a Conformity Assessment Body (DeBo/NoBo) is an asset.
✓ Technical knowledge:
o European or National Railways regulations (e.g. through ERA or NSA training)
o Experience of Certification & Authorization process in Railways domain
o ERTMS standards
o Control Command Signalling TSI (Technical Specification for Interoperability)
o ETCS / CBTC / National Signalling systems.
✓ Rigorous in the respect of the processes and regulations related to Certification and Authorisation
scope.
✓ Impartial and no discriminatory behaviour.

✓ Good communication and coordination skills (with internal and external stakeholders).
✓ Able to communicate (oral & written) and work in several languages (Dutch, French, English). Other
languages are an asset.
