About The Position
We are on the lookout for fresh and innovative minds to enhance our research team in the role of Chemical Process Engineer. We welcome a driven engineer with expertise in chemical, industrial, biotechnology, or materials science, and who possesses robust knowledge of the application of chemical, physical and mathematical principles to solve practical problems, ensuring that processes are safe, efficient, economically viable and environmentally sustainable. If you are passionate about designing, optimization, scaling and operation of industrial processes to unravel engineering and scientific challenges, this is your chance to make a significant impact.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Develop initial concepts for pilot plant projects, including defining objectives, scope, and required outcomes.
* Work with R&D and other departments to translate lab-scale processes into feasible pilot plant operations.
* Perform feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate the viability of the proposed process design.
* Create detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for pilot plant setups.
* Select and size equipment necessary for the pilot plant, ensuring compatibility with the intended chemical processes.
* Develop mass and energy balances for the processes to be tested in the pilot plant.
* Perform engineering calculations to ensure the integrity and safety of the pilot plant design.
* Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including design specifications, operating manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Present, discuss and defend the results with a multidisciplinary and international team.

Minimum Requirements
* A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline such as chemical, industrial, biotechnology, or materials science. Advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) are highly regarded.
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in interpreting complex data for actionable insights.
* Team player with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary groups and juggle multiple projects.
* Strong communication skills with the aptitude to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* High proficiency in English, covering comprehension, conversation, and writing.
