Job Overview:
Quality Control Engineer (Welding Engineer) is responsible for reviewing all Vendor manufacturing documents (e.g., Manufacturing Purchase Specification, Inspection and Test Plan, Welding Dossier, Heat Treatment Procedures, Test Procedures, NDE Procedures) to assure compliance with Design and Manufacturing Codes and Standards and specific Project Specifications. He reports to the Procurement QC Manager (Project) and to the Head of Inspection Department (Corporate).
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Review of Project Specifications (Manufacturing, Quality Control). Detect inconsistencies, ambiguous interpretation, or unusual requirements that could impact price or schedule.
2. Review and comment on all Vendor manufacturing documents of the assigned Purchase Orders (e.g., Reactors, Columns, Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Air Coolers, Fired Heaters, Reformers, Package Units, Piping Material). Main documents include: Welding Dossier, Inspection and Test Plan, Manufacturing Purchase Specification, Heat Treatment Procedure, Hydro/Leak/Pneumatic Test Procedure, Visual/Dimensional Control Procedure, Ferrite Test Procedure, Hardness Test Procedure, PMI Procedure, etc.
3. Issue Technical Queries/Deviation Requests to the Client when needed.
4. Support the Project Inspection Team in NCR resolution, and all matters related to the manufacturing of equipment/material.
5. Maintain fluent communication with Vendors to ensure understanding of all comments and Project requirements, aiming for a smooth manufacturing process.
6. Be an effective communicator and possess problem-solving skills.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
2. International Welding Engineer / Certified Welding Inspector (CWI/CSWIP).
3. 5+ years’ experience in quality control of manufacturing and welding processes of static equipment, valves, and piping components. Experience in producing/reviewing manufacturing and quality documents.
4. Deep knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI, NACE Codes.
5. Experience with commonly used materials in the Oil & Gas industry (Carbon Steel, Low Alloy Steel, Austenitic Stainless Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel, Ni Alloys, etc.).
6. Knowledge of NDTs (PT, MT, UT, RT, ET).
7. Fluent in English (written and spoken, B2-C1).
8. Based in Madrid, with occasional business trips required.
