Summary:
The Plant Manager/Engineer assumes overall responsibility including managing a high-speed canning operation running multiple lines. Provide leadership and direction that result in excellence in productivity while maintaining the wellbeing of all plant operations. The manager will also assume the responsibility for inspecting the machines and equipment for conformance to operational standards, implementing procedures designed to improve the canning manufacturing operations. Knowledge of diagnosis and troubleshooting of all equipment is essential, plus a strong knowledge of canning machinery, automatic case packing, and processing/blending equipment to maximize production capacity/efficiency. Canning and Thermal Processing experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
1. Must possess good project management skills and initiative in taking on and completing projects.
2. Designing and developing manufacturing procedures, process efficiency, and operator safety.
3. Providing production line support, including, but not limited to, implementing processes.
4. Utilizing LEAN, Six Sigma, and other best practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.
5. Work with manufacturing and quality departments during the concept, prototyping, and release of new products.
6. Generating and modifying manufacturing process documentation and ensuring that manufacturing processes and related documentation follow established policies and procedures.
7. Safeguarding company equipment by assuring conformance to all machinery manufacturers' specific criteria.
8. Preparing capital projects by developing cost, layout, and soliciting competitive bids for evaluation.
9. Direct charge of the overall Company’s Monthly Safety Programs and initiatives.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Experience in high-speed food machinery and a good understanding of PLC, Preventive Maintenance experience.
3. Allen Bradley programming experience is required: Studio 5000, RSlogix 5000 and 500, Rockwell Factory Talk.
4. Software experience: Ignition 7.9 or later, OPC systems.net, SQL, Manager Plus, Clarinet, Nice label, AutoCAD.
5. Loma and Mettler Toledo Inspection equipment experience, Video Jet printers.
6. 5+ years of directly related experience.
7. Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills.
8. Ability to multi-task and balance priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
9. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
