Trek Travel provides global cycling, hiking, and walking vacations of a lifetime with the goal of helping more people actively explore and experience the world. We are seeking specifically located candidates who will be responsible for overseeing and hosting Trek Travel’s Self-Guided trips in Spain, specifically in Andalusia. You will be the main point of contact for Trek Travel Self-Guided Guests while they are on trip, preparing bikes, greeting guests, and being available for any needs that arise in the duration of the trip.This is your opportunity to join the Trek Travel team and leave your mark on our company, on the active travel industry and on the world at large.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:1. Read trip itinerary and trip reports prior to trip start2. Prepare all bikes prior to trip start according to Trek Travel standards3. Charge all electronic devices, such as Di2, lights and e-bike batteries4. Ensure RWGPS experience is updated for guests and guests know how to use it5. Ensure GPS tracks are accurate and ready for guests6. Greet guests on Day 1 at the trip hotel7. Ensure guests filled out Waiver and Release of Liability forms8. Give guests an orientation of the region and the trip days9. Show guests where bikes and equipment are stored at the hotel10. Conduct a safety and RWGPS talk in addition to a bike demo before the first ride11. Greet guests on departure day12. Ensure bikes on departure day are mechanically sound13. Complete all trip end duties such as a Trip End ReportYOU HAVE/ARE:1. Knowledge of bike mechanics such as:2. Remove and replace either a tube and/or tire from both the front and rear of a bike, and properly seat wheel in the dropouts with proper tightening of the quick release lever3. Remove and install pedals4. Adjust a bike saddle, both height and fore/aft position5. Remove and replace a brake cable on a road bike equipped with internally routed cables6. Properly adjust both brake pad alignment and lever throw on a road bike7. Remove and replace a derailleur cable on a road bike equipped with internally routed cables8. Properly adjust both front and rear derailleurs on a road bike9. Adjust a bike helmet for the proper fit10. Properly tape handlebars on a road bike11. Demonstrate general familiarity with carbon fiber bike frames12. Change a handlebar stem and properly tighten to the specified torque13. At least 23 years old14. Reside in or around one of the following regions where we operate: in the town of Lamego, Peso da Regua or a surrounding area.15. Clear driving records16. Current First Aid and CPR certifications17. Proficient driving a standard transmission with a trailer18. Available in the months of April – October.HOST COMPENSATION RATES:1. The host gets paid on the first and last day of each trip.2. The host gets paid for each prepped bike.3. If an emergency happens and the host spends time assisting guests, the host will be paid an hourly rate.4. Gratuities are not recommended on Self-Guided trips. However, guests can tip the host at their discretion, based on the Host’s level of service.At Trek Travel, we think outside the box, continuously improve, encourage feedback, and give it all we have, all the time, no exceptions. This is a part-time, contracted position. This position reports to the Director of Guide Operations and will work cross-functionally with the Guide and Trip Design Departments.
