Americold is a US listed global leader in Cold Storage Warehouse. The company has been growing in size and in sophistication and has 20 warehouses in its network throughout Europe. During 2026 the European region will transition onto Oracle ERP to unify its reporting and IT systems across all continents.
We are seeking an accountant to take ownership and responsibility for the end-to-end process for: Fixed Assets accounting from managing Capital Work In Progress (CWIP) to final asset closures and reporting for all Europe; the accounting & maintenance of 3 holding entities; and serving as the Senior Financial Accountant backup. The ability to pay close attention to detail and exhibit a strong customer focused orientation is key to success in this role.

Essential Functions:
Fixed Assets:
* Control Capex Budget spending process to assure SOX compliance
* Liaise with the various facilities managers (engineers) regarding queries surrounding investment proposals
* Lead the fixed assets capitalization process, assuring USGAAP reporting and Local tax compliance
* Manage the Month end Fixed Assets close process for all sites - Perform month end tasks, including Asset Additions, Disposals, Transfers, Depreciation and review of GL Journals
* Maintain 3 Fixed Assets Ledgers in all Countries (Local Accounting) – IFRS, USGAAP and Tax
* Ensure that the fixed asset register is reconciled to the general ledger monthly
* Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations, including Capital Work in Progress (CWIP)
* Prepare and reconcile month end fixed asset reports for review and submission to US
* Support and Assist with the Annual Fixed asset stock takes
* Documentation preparation for Internal and External audits, and quarterly SOX testing
* Prepare and Build the Fixed Assets Depreciation Budget and assist with drafting of yearly CAPEX budget
* Review purchase order accruals to close out aged items and reconcile the purchase order suspense account
* Contribute to continual development of and compliance to the internal control environment and risk management process under the SOX framework
* Drive improvements in the Finance processes through automation and other efficient initiatives
* Act as a key finance representative on key projects process improvements
* Build relationships and partners with non-finance departments within the organization for seamless delivery of cross-departmental projects
* Assist the finance management team with ad hoc projects and perform other duties as required.
* Promote and maintain a high level of service to the internal stakeholders
Holding entities accounting:
* Being responsible for managing the month end financial reporting procedures on an operational level including preparing all journals and reconciliations
* Being responsible for all financial reporting into group in line with timetable
* Working with the Senior Financial Controller and FP&A on the Budgeting and Forecasting for the holding entities
* Preparing and review of monthly balance sheet
* Preparing and maintenance of the Intercompany Loan Schedules.
* Serving as the backup for the Senior Financial Accountant based in the Netherlands (Schiphol office).
* Other duties and special projects as requested.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education, Training & Professional Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
* CA, CPA or similar qualified, or close to completion
* At least 5 years’ relevant experience in medium to large organization
* IFRS technical knowledge is desirable
* US GAAP technical knowledge and experience working in a SOX environment is desirable
* Experience with US companies and SOX environments desirable
* Proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Microsoft Excel
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Experience using Oracle Accounting software is an advantage
