Mission Analysis Engineer
At Deimos, we're on a mission to provide cutting-edge technologies for earth observation and communication satellites, as well as scientific missions. We're seeking an intermediate engineer to join our Earth Observation Mission Analysis (EOMA) Competence Centre within the Mission Engineering Business Unit.
What's the Challenge?
As a Mission Analysis Engineer at Deimos, you will support the design of single-spacecraft or constellation-based space missions, mainly oriented towards Earth observation. You will work on providing orbital solutions and assessing mission performance for clients such as ESA, commercial customers, and internal developments. Additionally, you will be involved in developing software tools for mission analysis studies and conducting research in celestial mechanics and astrodynamics.
Your contributions will include:
* Analyzing complex problems and extracting conclusions based on logic and experience from other missions.
* Solving complex problems using ample knowledge of space mechanics and algebra.
* Supporting Earth observation and lunar missions, planetary defense, constellation design and replenishment, formation flying, disposal phase definition, and interplanetary missions.
* Developing and refurbishing code to solve unique problems, particularly in Python (Matlab and C++ appreciated).
* Managing small to medium projects, including client contact, formal meetings, preparing presentations, and document deliveries.
* Collaborating with team members, defining and delegating small tasks, and facilitating knowledge transfer.
* Supporting proposal preparation and commercial actions.
* Fostering the consolidation of engineering processes and promoting technology research, innovation, and development actions.
What we're looking for:
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in classical mechanics and algebra.
* High knowledge of orbital mechanics and astrodynamics.
* Knowledge of optimization and estimation theory and techniques.
* Experience in software engineering methods and techniques.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Fortran, and Matlab.
Educational background:
* M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering.
Professional Experience:
* 2-4 years in the space sector (Ph.D. studies considered).
* Broad technical background in orbital mechanics and astrodynamics.
* Experience in space projects and proposal preparation.
Language Skills:
* Excellent level of English, both spoken and written.
Personal Attributes:
* Highly motivated, with initiative and autonomy to solve complex problems.
* Responsible towards customers and teammates.
* Willingness to work in groups.
