INMA invites applications for a Junior/Senior Group Leader position in AI applied to Nanoscience and Materials Science, with particular emphasis on Nanobiomedicine, Quantum Technologies, and Materials for Energy and the Environment within the Severo Ochoa Research Excellence Programme.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the institute's integrative approach to translating nanomaterial research into solutions for today’s societal challenges.
INMA is a leading research institute on Nanoscience and Materials Science, with three main strategic research priorities: Nanobiomedicine, Quantum Technologies, and Materials for Energy and the Environment. Occupying more than 12,000 square metres across 4 buildings, it hosts circa 350 people, with over 260 researchers in 20 research groups at all career stages of which 50% are postdoctoral researchers and predoctoral students.
Research support includes a center for administrative services covering HR, Finances, Administrative Project Management, ICT Support, International Programs Unit, Data Processing Unit, Technology Transfer Unit, and Communication and Outreach Unit. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic planning, leadership, management, and development of the research group and the associated resources.
2. Positive contribution to excellent research by leading international projects. Identification, participation, leadership, and management of publicly funded and industry-funded projects within your area of expertise, long-term planning, and securing funding for the team.
3. Foster knowledge transfer through public and industrial cooperation and collaborations at regional, national, and international levels.
4. With a strategic vision of the research field, applications, and impact in society, contribute to INMA’s growth, establishing synergies with other research groups to achieve INMA’s objectives.
5. Effectively communicate your research to the society, stakeholders, and research community.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a highly motivated leading researcher with solid working experience to develop and lead a new research group in AI applied to Nanoscience and Materials Science at INMA. With long-term experience and in-depth knowledge of the European/International research, development, and innovation landscape. Methodical and systematic work approach, complemented by strong teamwork capabilities. Adaptive and flexible in dealing with challenges and changing circumstances.
Proficient in English (minimum level C1 - CEFR), with strong verbal and written communication skills. Spanish knowledge will be valued.

6. If the recruited researcher secures her/his salary through any of these alternative funding sources, the freed funds will be added to her/his start-up package.
