The Sr. Custom Solutions Application Engineer is responsible for optimizing the proposed design, issuing drawings, preparing all RFQ to Pall suppliers, running all the project mechanical clarifications with our suppliers, closing all the technical bid evaluations with them, issuing the project firm costing, and leading the risk assessment. He/She will work closely with other support departments to ensure readiness of the design, costing solution, and drive customer satisfaction.
This position reports to the European Custom Solution Manager based in France and is part of the Custom Solution Team (CST) located in Spain. It will be an on-site role to cover Europe.
Responsibilities:
1. Customer Relationships: Establish and maintain sales and key customer relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
2. The Value Proposition: Understand the client RFQ and scope requirements and set up the Pall Design value proposition in coordination with sales.
3. The Custom Solution: Select the right design to fit with the client’s specification and work closely with the CST team and sourcing/operation team to lead the cost bridge reduction for all projects.
4. The Technical Expertise: Provide advanced technical support to customers, having deep knowledge of pressure vessel manufacturing, leading complex mechanical clarifications, and closing all open points before order.
5. The Design Lead: Lead the design and mechanical technical inputs of the projects, support the sourcing team, and ensure offers align with project specifications and timelines.
6. Lead through Danaher Business System (DBS) mindset and tools.
Essential Requirements:
1. Mechanical engineer with several years of experience in pressure vessel manufacturing or engineering (7 to 12 years).
2. Fluent in English; knowledge of one or two European languages (Italian, Spanish, French) is beneficial.
3. Proficient in the use of Inventor, Autocad, PVLite, Outlook, SAP, Salesforce, and MS Office applications.
4. Ability to travel – less than 15% in the year in Europe.
5. Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in vessel and equipment supplier activities (thickness calculations, weight, ASME, PED).
2. Experience in the Energy, Chemical, and Oil & Gas industries.
3. Knowledge of metallurgy.
