Additive Manufacturing Technician Location: Barcelona Job Type: Full-time, PermanentAbout the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Additive Manufacturing Technician to operate and optimise metal 3D printing systems within an advanced engineering environment. This role involves overseeing the setup, maintenance, and process development of metal additive manufacturing (AM) equipment, ensuring precision, efficiency, and sustainability in production.If you have a passion for cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and a drive for continuous improvement, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-performance, sustainable engineering solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesMetal 3D Printing & Process OptimisationOperate, maintain, and monitor metal 3D printing systems, including powder handling (e.g., titanium or other metals).Ensure optimal build parameters and maintain high part quality while maximising machine uptime.Work closely with engineering and design teams to refine AM processes, including laser power adjustments, scanning strategies, and support structures.Equipment Maintenance & Continuous ImprovementDevelop and implement preventive maintenance plans to reduce downtime and extend machine lifespan.Identify process inefficiencies and propose enhancements using Lean manufacturing principles (5S, predictive/preventive maintenance, etc.).Conduct failure analysis on defective prints and recommend improvements.Inventory & Supply Chain CoordinationManage tooling, spare parts, and consumables to ensure seamless operations.Work with the supply chain team to maintain a reliable stock of essential materials, including metal powders and machine components.Sustainability & ComplianceEnsure safe handling and recycling of metal powders in line with environmental and health & safety regulations.Contribute to sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of AM processes.Reporting & Cross-Department CollaborationProvide weekly progress reports on operational performance, challenges, and improvements.Support other departments with AM expertise when required.Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.Required Skills & Experience✔ Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, OR relevant hands-on experience in high-tech manufacturing. ✔ Practical experience with metal additive manufacturing (e.g., SLM, DMLS), particularly titanium. ✔ Strong understanding of industrial 3D printing, process optimisation, and failure analysis. ✔ Experience in industries such as automotive, aerospace, or motorsport is highly beneficial. ✔ Ability to troubleshoot and maintain 3D printing equipment and post-processing tools. ✔ Knowledge of Lean manufacturing methodologies (5S, Kaizen, predictive maintenance). ✔ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. ✔ Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams (R&D, production, quality). ✔ High attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.Why Join Us?We offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to work with cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies in an industry-leading environment.
