Joining AXA XL as a Casualty Underwriter you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients to provide an innovative and bespoke underwriting service. In your underwriting role you will be responsible for writing new and renewal business for an allocated range of clients for Spain & Portugal across the book, monitoring aggregate exposure within agreed limits; monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within agreed limits; maintaining awareness of all claims advised; supporting and providing input on settlement of claims advised; building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients; supporting the design and structure of risks.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
* Underwrite, manage and service a renewal book and produce new business in accordance with business unit goals and aligned with local and group underwriting guidelines.
* In coordination with the Casualty manager, develop and manage underwriting strategies for both renewals and targets within your portfolio of accounts, including knowledge of the current penetration by product, cross marketing penetration and specific plans to increase company share.
* Analyse and evaluate risks showing technical consistency.
* Build and enhance relationships with brokers and clients and identify and establish new distribution relationships.
* Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities, and targeted markets.
* Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
* Identify and drive new product development opportunities. Effectively cross-market with other AXA XL lines; meet with brokers and insureds as required.
* Cultivate key broker relationships to maintain a steady stream of business within our underwriting appetite.
This position reports to the UW Casualty Manager, Iberia.
We’re looking for someone who has these qualifications and skills:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business Administration or Engineering.
* Some years of experience in underwriting, policy development, and broker management in Liability. Experience in corporate segment will be valued.
* Good Market and Industry knowledge. Valued knowledge of the Portuguese Market.
* Understand stakeholders' needs and concerns and identifies points of agreement. Efficiently manages the interactions with other parties involved. Explores different alternatives and influences other parties to reach an agreement with positive outcomes for all.
* Know and use selling and negotiation techniques; adapt to the customer's situation, needs, and behaviour.
* Good analytical skills.
* Work in a team with colleagues of different seniorities and expertise to achieve collective goals.
* Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
